I        About The Book!

This book 55th is The Sequel to my earlier 54 books to date!

After my last book, I was admitted in Royal Hospital for a Prostate operation that ended me falling into a serious coma state in ICU – Intensive Care Unit – EER – for almost a month! See B – The Prophet’s Dream!

The book contains all the articles and topics that I had posted in My Websites Blogs and The Social Media since the 54th  book.

The book can also stand on its own to describe all my 52 books to date! 6 books on Arab Management, 3 on Road Safety, 6 on My Autobiography (The Story of My Life!) – 12 on my Columns Writings ‘Between Us Only!’ and ‘At My Workplace!’ and the rest on assorted topics!

  • It is hard to beat a person who never gives up! – Babe Ruth
  • Writing is the only profession where no one considers you ridiculous if you make no money! – Jules Renard

The book is a bird’s eye view on all about all my books and from all my varied articles to date! The books produced here are in main part linked to me as Majid aka as Magic – Magic Man as the pseudonym I used in ‘The Forums’! Also interestingly the article – Why Do They Call You Magic? Also Who Is Majid? And My Epitaph! The articles are also about My Family and My Late Parents – Peace Be Upon Them!

The book theme is the current status in my Life where I am facing great stress and Injustice being done to me now!

I do hope that you will like reading about me!

People were always asking me – Why don’t you write a book about yourself and all your books as at one stop centre? The story of your life? All about your books! So people can remember you and your works – and as a Memory and Record for all your works to date!

I then decided to accept the challenge and write this book. Like the other books – I have tried to be as factual as possible – and with my usual style of writing of speaking to you directly from my heart – and to be as sincere, genuine, frank, forthright as possible – so that this book can not only be used in Research works – but as a Guide and Beacon for the children, grandchildren, great grandchildren – and future generations by the Grace of Allah God – Ameen Amen.

 II               Book Preface

After my last book 52 titled All My MAS Books! www.createspace.com/6306051 and the last book on the series Between Us Only! Titled Wipe My Tears! www.createspace.com/4304972  –   I became very sick and was admitted in Royal Hospital in Oman from November 2015 to January 2016 when I was operated for Prostate Operation – thankfully malign!

I lapsed into a Coma State in ICU – Intensive Care Unit EER – in November / December 2015 and was there for more than a month!

Unknown to me at the time, there was a Court case placed against me by One International Home Bank against my defunct Consultancy – Management & Marketing Development Consultancy – MMDC – which had collapsed and gone bankrupt in January 2001 – that is 15 years ago – and still being followed and being traumatized to date!

O ye who believe! Be steadfast in the cause of Allah, bearing witness in equity: and let not a people’s enmity incite you to act otherwise than with justice. Be always just, that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah, Surely Allah is aware of what you do – The Holy Quran – Ch. 5 – V 9

Allah God spoke to His Messenger (Peace and Blessings of  Allah be upon him) in this manner:

“O My slaves, I have forbidden injustice for Myself and forbade it also for you.  So avoid being unjust to one another.” (Saheeh Muslim)

Thus, justice represents moral rectitude and fairness, since it means things should be where they belong.

Nothing has changed much in Oman despite all my writings in my columns and books – the columns that ran for more than 15 years before being targeted and killed off in 2013 – on a technicality – but frankly I think more on their designs policing to subdue people speaking The Truth!

The games of The Mafias usually run and led by sadly our Indian friends dominating The Media in Oman – and tragically more by our own Omanis – The Old Guards!

And The System is based on Policing and Retaining The Status Quo in favour of Those with Say, Money and Power – and those who have these and with W (Wastah) – but never to side with the disadvantaged and poor – even if Old Sick Retirees too! So sad!

The articles in this book are mainly centred on the above aspects as now being denied the public route through my Oman Daily Observer in my columns Between Us Only! and At My Workplace!

I decided to add this book 53 to my series of books – with due apologies to The Reader that the emphasis and concentration in this book was what was happening to me at the time – and to compile the subjects topics under this book 53 – That Is The way It Is!

We are very lucky in Oman for having our Beloved His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said!

May Allah SWT Our Lord God Almighty Give him long life and health Ameen!

Even though I am a sick and ailing person – and with a lot of other personal problems – I sincerely genuinely and honestly feel –

I look at the News!

Everywhere and all around us and in front of our eyes –

– See people are crying!

– See people are dying!

– Seeing people being victimized, injured and being maimed!

– See all the destruction disasters decadence malaise and decay!

– See mischief being done on land!

– See there is just wars and fights all around!

– See people living as displaced and destitute – both internally and externally!

– See so many other bad things!

Oman – under HM Renaissance – is a land and bastion of peace, harmony, understanding, tolerance and co-existence amongst people – Local, Residents and Visitors and Guests!

Frankly and honestly, I do believe if people had listened to His Majesty there would have been NO –

– No Iraq Saddam invasion of Kuwait!

– No Gulf War of any kind as a result!!

– No Syria Destruction and Civil War as now!

– No Libya Destruction and Civil War as now!!

– No Yemen fiascos and war!

– No attacks on Yemen!

– No Fitnas of any kind!

– Most likely as a result No Daesh or IS syndromes!

– Most likely not even September 11 events!

Indeed initially, we had some initial problems – but under wise leadership of HM – they all went solved and peace and harmony reigned in – Al Hamdu Lillah – Allah Be Praised!

May Allah SWT Our Lord God Almighty Give him long life and health Ameen!

Things Fall Apart!

September 28, 2016

The above is a novel by late famed Nigerian Author Chinua Achebe RIP!

He visited Tanzania and came to our Aga Khan Secondary School in Dar es Salaam – Capital Commercial City of Tanzania! The book was part of the revised Literature syllabus from ex Colonial (sic!) books like of Shakespeare Darwin etc.! This was the aspiring New Socialist Government in control under President Nyerere then!

As we were in the Assembly Hall, Achebe asked us the Literature Students what we thought the book’s theme was in reality – according to each one’s perception and outlook!

So I walked up to the stage and on the microphone told him what I thought! Believe me but I am scared of Public Speaking especially in front of a large audience!

This is what I told The Great Author – decades back – and I was still in Secondary School!

The Theme of The Book!

thingsfall  chinua_achebe_caro_page-bg_24987

Image Book and Chinua Achebe!

It is about someone (Okonkwo – The Main Starring Actor!) who wants to change things on the ground in peaceful way and by talking and by persuasion – 2nd level faith in our Islam anyway! – and meeting a tragic end – he was hanged by The British Colonialists – who always preach about Democracy and Freedom of Speech even then! – Because ‘the times for Change were not in (ripe!) yet ready’!

One has to wait UNTIL the time to initiate and start Change only when the time was ripe and people WERE READY for The Change!

And not anyone on his own at least can spur or initiate Change on his own as all odds were against him! Only he will be hurt and be pained – ignored and marginalised – and as happened to him precipitating his own early ugly death!

Our Religion always says the same thing –

Allah SWT God Almighty never changes people UNLESS they are ready to change things within themselves first!

Achebe in front of my Headmaster and the students audience (over 250) took a long apprehensive tensing look at me – and told me …..!!

You know what? I wrote the book – but honest speaking I had NEVER thought of it that way – apart of the fact it was written and about when Nigeria was under Colonial rule!

I think you have a Great Future as an Author and Writer! You have really amazed (shocked) me to be honest with you!

He then hugged me and gave me a signed book! The book was later stolen from me by perhaps a jealous envious person – or people just determined to cause harm, disaster and Fitna!

If I ever meet Achebe in the future I will tell him more about me and my books! 🙂 http://www.majidalsuleimani.com

Sad and tragic though that people sacrifice or have to be sacrificed to Speak HONEST and FACTUAL like this!

What do you think???? Your views most welcome here!

The Need for Kindness, Consideration and Compassion! 2

Justice  14AA - Front Cover (2)  9A - Wipe My Tears  05 - A Cry For Help!

Coma Majid

This is I in ICU Acute Medicine in Royal Hospital December 2015 – January 2016!

The Need for Kindness, Consideration and Compassion To Prevail!

A long one – but please read it!

There is a great need for consideration, compassion, kindness and sympathy before our world punishment – and in our graves and punishments – and before Our Lord God Allah SWT! 😦

Scary Desperate Deteriorating Living Standards and the Increased Painful Hardships!

It is a well-established fact that people suffering the most now in The Society are The Still Unemployed (Unemployable) Youth – and The Old Generations Retired Pensioners – with their reduced incomes – and some with still past loans to pay to the Banks from the meagre pensions that they now receive – like it is of getting blood from a stone!

I was watching the hectic painful heart rendering breaking hardships scenes in Venezuela due to the mainly fluctuating oil prices and how the economy took a steep deep dramatic dive into oblivion, calamity despair decay and decadence! When food stuff deliveries are hijacked on the roads before they reach the stores – and starving dying animals in the zoo – with surviving lions being given mangoes to eat instead of food! Because there is simply no money to buy meat for them!

In all my books – especially The Arab Management books I have tried to convey the message in bold frankness and openness – and today I am suffering still despite going financially bankrupt 15 years ago in my Consultancy business.

Visit my books websites here at www.majidalsuleimani.com and www.mymasbooks.com – and www.myownmajid.com

In my article decades ago – Why I Left My Last Oil Company –

https://majidall.com/as-to-why-i-had-left-my-last-oil-company-loc/

– I had said –  I always believe this – when peoples are unhappy, silent and grumble in quietness, Allah God Takes Away Blessings in anything in life – even in your own home – so why not in a Company made of many homes too? Maybe that can explain the reduced oil and gas outputs and incomes generated!

The increasing depressions, frustrations, disappointments and complaints – like that cinder fire burning heatedly quietly underneath – and to explode at any unpredictable inopportune time!

A good HSE British friend of mine told me that in many disasters etc. you will find many people piled up and that have died just near the main entrances – because there was panic and fear – and no orderly formally cool minded exits!

Economists also believe that in times of down trends in economy – that is the time to buy a new wardrobe – buy a new car – and even go for a holiday! Not to panic and let cool presence of mind prevail and dominate!

We need also to ensure fairness, ethics and justice in implementing rules and regulations – because it is always the majority the poor ones without W Wastah that get the full force of The Laws in favour of always The Minority Few Rich and Famous! Especially in Money Matters! As they say in USA – the less than one percent of The Population! The Rich and The Powerful against 99% poor and desolate!

The unscrupulous places play around with the Rules and Regulations to harass intimidate and terrorise customers and clients with full support of formality who do not care or bother the poor citizenry and residents – with full forces of The Law with no mercy, kindness and compassion towards the long suffering citizens and residents – who have no way out or could find hope, solace and remedy at all!

Companies that were profitable and making money have resorted to large borrowing in order to just survive – or even closing down – and there are so many advertising for sale and for closing down! So what has really happened?

We need to really deep self analyse soul search ourselves of where we have gone wrong that the Barakah Rahmah Imaan (Blessings, Trust, Faith and Goodness!) are going away with an express speed – and to return To The Right Path and Way – Ameen Amen!

With full rights as a Citizen in Self Expression under HM and One Flag.

My Sincere Apologies and Regards,

Majid Al Suleimany

I got the above from a close friend who had read my posting below in Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Google Plus –

Justice in Islam –  https://majidall.com/2016/07/26/justice-in-islam/

He had sent me a joke (Swahili) of two drunkards. They found a mirror on the street. So Drunkard 1 took a long good look at it and said to his colleague – You know what? This guy looks very familiar but I have forgotten his name. The other drunkard snatched it from him – then after looking at it too lamented –You mean that you cannot recognize me? My friend you really disappoint me – this is me!

Harassing Customers!

Please do not terrorise harass customers and clients for old expired accounts and some that have been paid partly or even largely fully. Just because hard economic times are here now and time to settle old scores or get blood from stones.

Everywhere is suffering especially Retirees and Pensioners and families with still not employed youngsters and where some spent so much on their education expenses.

In times of hardships and difficulties it is better to pray to Allah SWT God The Almighty rather than chasing each other wildly by fears and worries.

In major fires dead bodies are more found just near the doors because people panicked instead orderly rushing out. The metaphor can be used here now.

Allah God Direct us all to the Right Path and way Amin Amen!
Please be kind compassionate to your customers and clients. Because when good times will come in they may choose to remain with you!

People are suffering every where ….some quietly in patience tolerance and silent prayers. Some pray deep in the night – crying to Allah God!

This is a cinder fire burning deeply underneath and one one day someone crazy may do terrible things and then everyone will ask what happened?

Time to cool down and let common sense and presence of minds prevail!

Remember there is Allah SWT God out there and we are accountable for our actions and inactions and even inadvertently too. Remember punishment on earth your grave and The Day of Reckoning!

In the long run everyone ends as a Loser!

Justice In Islam!

Justice

When I was studying in Secondary School in Tanzania in the early 1960s – they were introducing Socialism as a Compulsory Subject for all the students. If you failed in the subject you just did not get your Secondary School Leaving Certificate! It was as simple as that!

In one of the topics they were preaching of how Law and Order was being broken up by ‘the enemies of The State’ by mocking and making fun (trifling!) the State Institutions – especially those involved in keeping ‘the Safety and the Security’ of The State apparatus!

Once ‘they’ have done that – that is the The Enemies – the rest becomes easy!

In one of the famous phrases by Mao – The then China Communist Leader – was ‘Peace comes from the barrel of the gun’!  It scared me to bits and pieces!

They even talked about one Being The Judge, Jury and Executioner Stuff etc!

As we watch around us things going wrong all around us it is important that we remain ever vigilant and alert of Protecting and Preserving our beloved Nation. It is noted that we Omanis are loyal, trusting respecting and welcoming peoples – and some may even label us as being ‘weak and docile’ for that matter!

I feel, therefore, that it is important to REMIND OURSELVES of sense of Fairness, Justice in Islam – lest we deviate – whether inadvertently or by default even.

Justice In Islam!

The Importance of Justice

The Quran, the sacred scripture of Islam, considers justice to be a supreme virtue.  It is a basic objective of Islam to the degree that it stands next in order of priority to belief in God’s exclusive right to worship (Tawheed) and the truth of Muhammad’s (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prophethood.  God declares in the Quran:

“God commands justice and fair dealing…” (Quran 16:90)

Prophet Muhammad underscored the importance of rulers being just in one of his famous sayings.

“There are seven categories of people whom Allah will shelter under His shade on the day when there will be no shade except His. (One will be) a just leader.” (Saheeh Muslim)

The Qur’an warns believers against subjective factors or personal emotions leading them to deviate from the path of justice, which is also the path of Islam, but it weighs heavily upon those who are required to adjudicate in disputes or to give judgment on other issues.

“O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah and be just witnesses and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: That is nearer to piety, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do.” (Al-Maidah: 8)

Muslims are also called upon to rise above social evils such as nepotism and favoritism. Almighty Allah says in the Qur’an,

“O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even though it be against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, be he rich or poor, Allah is a Better Protector to both (than you). So follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest you may avoid justice, and if you distort your witness or refuse to give it, verily, Allah is Ever Well-Acquainted with what you do.” (Al-Nisa: 135)

We Need To Be Really Serious! Reply

The Need To Be Really Serious!

On 7th June 2014 by Allah God Blessing I became 65 years old! Allah God Is Merciful! Allah Is Compassionate! Ameen Amen

A very good Indian friend of mine called me to wish me birthday greetings and to talk about the advertisement I had put in the newspapers as below –

Omani HR Management Consultant Expert Advisor UK educated and trained retired PDO 25 years experiences all aspects HR Training Development Omanisation etc. looking for temporary job 8 to 1 pm or Project work majid@majidsuleimany.com

Typically, he asked me if anyone from his company had contacted me – because being in Management – he knew that they were looking for a full time experienced HR Professional (Omani) but have still not found one that was meeting their requirements and expectations! He wondered aloud with me as ‘to why they did not grab this opportunity’ being thrown at them? I said I would not do – but he should know better as he was working for the Company – and he was in Management himself!

Frankly, I have received some offers that included:-

  • Selling Life and Insurance policies.
  • Logistics (Temporary job) related.
  • Sort of Senior PRO job (Temporary) – You have driving license Omani?
  • Customs Clearances job!
  • Other jobs not related to Human Resources
  • Petty offers for real HR jobs that they will not even pay lower end Visiting Consultants and Experts – but can be offered to Omanis – by fellow Top Omanis Owners, Managers – and also Expatriate ones too!

Nothing has changed much on the ground – and the mindsets have remained unmovable and unchanged – despite changes all around them – and all the rhetoric and façade of pushing Human Resources, Training and Development, Omani Recruitment and in Omanisation aspects!

As a LinkedIn member, I get so many requests from young Omanis for connections – ‘Looking For A Job’! My heart breaks out and burns when I look at their profiles and I find that many are educated and qualified – but lack work experiences! Still yet no one has come forward to offer them a break or an opportunity! I know of certainty of my niece educated and trained in Oman in a Omani College with Omani Credentials and Qualifications in Human Resources – two years down the line – with No Job Offer – despite HR being the rage – and most talked after subject – even before SMEs and Self Employment per se!

Many of them have had their families educate and train them – or now have to pay back Educational Assistance loans that they have taken from the Banks – which places a heavy burden on their families – causing rifts and strife at home – even bordering domestic violence syndromes! Some have lived very difficult and hard lives – in order to survive in teaching and educating their children! Some have even sold their villas and extra cars in order to improvise and survive – with no let out or light at the end of the tunnel! With family strife – and breaking up of the families – and their youngsters jobless wandering off ‘to lost give up ways’ – bad company, drugs and violence trends!

Every day I look at the newspapers – and find adverts from ‘Visiting Oman’ Applicants looking for a job – many of them highly qualified and experienced – and who are ready to accept far low packages offer ‘if they work at home’ – or not formally linked to the employing companies!

The bitter truth is that many of the General Managers and CEOs are Expatriate controlled – and even the few ones by locals are by The Old Guards that prefer ‘no rocking of the boat’ – and want expatriates under them so they can ‘control them’. Similarly the Expatriate ones want meek docile not strong characters Omanis under them – more as a window shopping exercise – and for façade, showoff and rhetoric mainly!

That is why they prefer to promote ex HES, PRO and Admin Clerks as HR Managers – so they can do their bidding – and can agree to be controlled – both by The Expatriate Mafia = and The Weak distrusting Old Guards – that simply do not value our own – and like I always say in my writings – like that General that ‘shoots at his own troops’ or ‘friendly fire’ in military terms! Forget about ‘collateral damage’ for a change!

How long can these things go on before the cinder fire burning heatedly deep inside explodes?

Yet we see all around the havoc and destructions live on Television – from neighbouring countries to far – some brewing internally – and some already on the surface – starting from a minor thing like 20 students graffiti to ‘destruction of the whole country’ – to farcial elections of new leaderships in failing environments – with more to come still?

Like the Arabs say too – No one is deaf but with ears but cannot hear – blind with eyes but cannot see – and with a mouth but cannot speak! Or allow others to speak! Or as The Romans say – Those that the gods want to destroy – they make them not hear, see or speak!

If things can be done to Senior Qualified Experienced Omanis – even in High Places – that should know better – and lead by examples – away from repeating things in rhetoric and façade – acts and pretenses – like in Animal Farm by George Orwell – the Fundamental and Big Question to ask here is –

How can the Young Omani fare in The Private Sector with everything working against him all around!

You be The Judge – and You Answer The Question!

No wonder they wanted to Kill off my columns as soon as they could!.

This is My Last Call! I am really – really – really tired banging my head against brick walls – and making it swollen and red only – and The Real Loser – again and again – is me personally and my direct family only!

We Need to Be Really Serious – before it is too late for everyone – and we lost that thing that we dearly loved and valued – by not preserving it – letting it grow and prosper – by our selfishness, bad hearts and intentions – by polarization – and failing to  –

Stand as One! Under One Flag – One Nation – One HM!

Destroying all his Great Works – and failing to appreciate and value his personal sacrifices – that has made us today hold our heads high with dignity, respect and esteem!

May Allah God Direct us all to The Straight Path and Way – Ameen Amen

I did not put any pictures – because ALL THESE THINGS I HAVE SAID BEFORE!

THIS IS MY LAST CALL!

Take Care!

  • We hang the petty thieves – and elect the big ones to public offices – Aesop
  • The East Africans have a Swahili expression that goes like this – If you have to eat pork, choose the fattest juicest pig – because the sins are the same – so you might as well enjoy the meat.
  • Need to be careful people do not feel of ‘a witch hunt’ or a mouse trap! The mouse trap caught everyone except the mouse the trap was set for!

I have covered this particular topic widely and intensively in my columns – See some examples below! –

Nigeria – President Goodluck Jonathan accused internationally respected career banker Lamido Sanusi of “financial recklessness and misconduct,” and officially suspended him just days before the governor reportedly planned on stepping aside.

The West African nation’s naira currency immediately weakened in response.

Last year Sanusi reported that $50 billion worth of oil sold by the state’s Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. had not been paid to the government. The Senate Committee on Finance last week ordered an independent forensic audit into the missing money, now said to amount to about $20 billion. The Finance Ministry said missing receipts recovered in an audit accounted for the rest of the missing money

What Is Happening To Us Now?

Dear All;

Has anybody out there read my books? See www.myownmajid.com

Yesterday Saturday January 25th 2014 – I visited CCC and met this nice British lady who was really surprised that there are in Oman Local Authors that write in English and also in serious books that make you think like Arab Management, Road Safety, Social, Economic, Political etc. topics! Brothers and Sisters Omanis and Friends Residents and Guests – what is happening to us in Oman now not to appreciate and value our own? Is it just bad hearts and Haassiyyds, or is it that we have eyes but cannot see, have ears but cannot hear and mouths but afraid to speak! Shocking and weird to say the least!

Maybe because we wear dishdashas and brown skinned!

In times of Oman today Sunday Beat Saleh Shaibany wrote about the Omani brain drain to rest GCC esp UAE and Qatar for better salaries etc. Allah God Help us all Ameen – See Below

The brain drain is mainly fully highly qualified experienced Omanis in especially  Oil and Gas – who get paid 3 times more outside Oman. Where is our Leadership? Don’t they know these things? And then every day more and more expatriates come in – and our own leave! We are not interested in new roads, railways and bridges – but how we get treated in our own very country! Sad and tragic really!

We need to deep soul search and self analyse ourselves – at least for the sake of our future, destiny and legacy – and for future generations. But I am really scared and worried…

Perhaps to venture a conspiracy theory – some Old Guards and The Expatriate Mafias want to destroy from within …and keep everyone down! Especially those who dare to now to open their mouths – or dare to now write! My columns got killed this way!

Maybe even the oil and gas corruption cases some of them may think or feel that they deserved more … and then stole this way? Conspiracy Theory?

My mind just ponders….!

Brain drain could end up doing irreversible damage –

Sunday Beat – By Saleh Al Shaibany – Times of Oman – January 26th 2014

Muscat: The depressing reality is that Oman is beginning     to witness its human capital transferring to other countries for the simple     reason that the Sultanate cannot anymore satisfy the higher wages that its     skilled workers demand.

Talented local workers with years of experience are     looking for better paid jobs abroad leaving the country in a brain drain     zone. The gap they leave behind cannot be filled by graduates. The human     flight can do an irreversible damage on a long-term basis if employers     continue to pay low wages to its most experienced Omani staff.

And the problem is deeper than that. Oman is also losing     its new talents as well for greener pastures.

With the government investing so much money in     education and vocational training, the job opportunities need to match the     college and university leaving students’ expectations for wages. For the record, the Ministry of Finance has allocated OMR2.6 billion for education     this year, twice the budget allocated for the same sector last year. The  huge capital investment will need to translate into better paid jobs if we have to keep young talents right here at home.

Most of the Omanis who are leaving are emigrating to  other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and the prime targets are the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. That means that we are losing professionals and skilled workers that the government has paid millions at different levels of training and education. The areas in which we now face the brain drain are in Information Technology (IT), medicine, the financial sector and academia. In a fledgling economy like Oman, we cannot leave     talent gaps and then hope that things will remain alright. Employers must     match the wages paid by our neighbours instead of hoping that someone from  abroad will fill these positions when Omanis vacate them. For that to     happen, attitudes must also change.

Top on the list is trusting local skills. Oman has become so dependent on importing talent and the mind set is now embedded deep among the employers that only foreign workers can do a better job. These employers are now being proved pleasantly wrong. While we shun our own  skills, the GCC states hold these in high esteem and companies there start to poach Omani talents. So where does it leave the huge effort of the     government which is spending about OMR4 billion a year on projects, trade subsidies and education to inject funds in the private sector? Yes, it does create jobs but now Omanis want to be paid enough to compensate for their talents.

It took 40 years to create a powerhouse of local skills. The ammunition of that powerhouse is better financial packages.     Omani managers know that they are worth much more across the border than here. In the UAE or in Qatar, a senior IT manager with 10 to     15 years of experience gets a monthly package of around OMR7,000.

Here,  they only get paid about OMR3,500. New doctors get a maximum of OMR700 per month in the Sultanate. They would get paid about OMR2,500 when they land  jobs in those two countries. One would say it is not exactly patriotism to abandon one’s country in its moment of need but better standard of living is what drives people these days.

The funny thing is that 20 years ago, Oman barely had     any experienced and skilled people to work in the high profile jobs in the private sector. It was natural to import these talents from different countries to push the wheel of development forward. It is a different scenario now. We have the right people now but we are beginning to export  local talents when it is mostly needed here. The trend is threatening to wipe out any advancement we made in the last two decades in the build up of skilled workforce.  The result, if we don’t watch out, is the loss of   senior managers to foreign bidders and that will give the Omanisation  process a severe knock.

It goes without saying that to continue to compete on     the global basis, Oman must invest on its local workers by paying them much more than the present wage scales if it wants to retain its skills.

END

Thank you Saleh, My Brother! Well said!
