Between Us Only!
Solving Our Own Problems!
v O, mankind, we have created you from a male and a female; and We have made you into tribes and sub-tribes that you may recognise one another. Verily, the most honourable among you, in the sight of Allah, is he who is most righteous among you. Surely Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware – The Holy Quran – Ch.49: V.14
v O ye who believe! Be steadfast in the cause of Allah, bearing witness in equity: and let not a people’s enmity incite you to act otherwise than with justice. Be always just, that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah, Surely Allah is aware of what you do – The Holy Quran – Ch.5: V.9
v The Believers are but a single Brotherhood: so make peace and reconciliation between your two (contending) brothers; and fear Allah that you may receive Mercy – Holy Quran – 49:10
Before I write on today’s topic – it is the Holy Month of Ramadhan. It is the month for deep soul searching ourselves and in self analysis – and in trying to rectify and to amend our ways and methods to the right ways and path – Amin. It is also the month for forgiveness and in reconciliation. It is also the month of ‘talking to one another’ – and saying what is in our hearts!
Having said that, it needs to be pointed out that as a Writer and Columnist – I hate writing about topics that are sensitive like religion and politics – because as a person I believe in live and let live syndrome – and that everyone has a right for living as best as one can under the true basic humanity rights – and our true values and focuses in the society – without hindrance and interference from any other!
Also though I try my best to follow my religion and its teachings and principles – I am not an expert or learned in such affairs – nor will I ever try to profess as such ever in my life – so please forgive me! Nor am I a Political or Military Analyst for that matter! I am also not pro or against Morsi – as is not my concern. Those who have read my book Psychology of Arab Management Thinking will also note on this and why! Also I am not Egyptian – it is only for them to decide – whom they want as President – or not!

It was just by coincidence that I had watched the carnage destructive attack by the Egyptian forces on supposed to be unarmed civilians supposed to be peaceful demonstrators that wanted their elected president reinstated! It is not my intention to get brawled into all the aspects of what really happened – the truths, not the truths – and the fabricated – as it is not my business in reality! Bottom line several innocent lives were lost – including those of children – and babies too! And this as people were supposed to be praying Fajr prayers too!
I watch with great sadness and heavy heart of a great country like Syria being destroyed at the helm – a full blown out civil war and destruction – and not only by their own people – but also from outsiders – supporting one side from the other! From what started as a simple graffiti incident of 25 students – how it was bungled up and mishandled – to current status quo – of a great country going into utter ruins, destruction, malaise and decadence! I ask myself the fundamental question – Who really has benefited – and still stands to benefit?

I look at these below – and wonder – do we really know of all these things in reality?
v Abu Bakrah (R.A.) narrated “I heard Allah’s Messenger (SAW) saying, When two Muslims fight (meet) each other with their swords, both the murderer as well as the murdered will go to Hell-fire.” I said, “O Allah’s Messenger! It is all right for the murderer but what about the murdered one? Allah’s Messenger replied, “He surely had the intention to kill his companion – Bukhari, Vol. 1, Hadith 30
v O ye who believe! If a wicked person comes to you with any news, ascertain the truth, lest ye harm people unwittingly, and afterwards become full of repentance for what ye have done – Qur’an 49:6
v O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors; They are but friends and protectors to each other; And he amongst you that turns to them is one of them. Surely, Allah Guides not a people unjust – Quran 5:51
I wonder out aloud – human beings never cease to surprise and amaze at what they are really capable of – and doing to others – and as if nothing will ever happen to them – because they are fully covered – and have all the protection they need! But are we really sure? Have we read and analysed the situation correctly? Have we compared notes to what happened to others – and elsewhere before all these things?
There is a famous East African saying that says when brothers fight – take your plough and go to farm – that is metaphorically ‘Do not get involved!’ – Because when they patch up – you will end as the loser! There is also the Arabic saying that if my brother fights my brother – I will try to bring them together – and not get involved. But if my brother fights my cousin – I will support my brother. But if my cousin fights someone else – I will support my cousin!
It is high time for us all to wake up from this deep self induced slumber – and wake up to the truth and realities – and facts of life – before it is too late for all of us! Amin.
v Help one another in righteousness and piety, but help not one another in sin and rancor: Fear Allah for Allah’s strict in punishment – The Holy Quran 5:2
v We cannot solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created them – Albert Einstein
v The best way to resolve any problem in the human world is for all sides to sit down and talk – Dalai Lama
v The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world’s problems – Mahatma Gandhi
v The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts – Bertrand Russell
Yesterday one of my very good friends ST had died after being very sick for a very long time – so please forgive me for being so emotional and sensitised – because none of us know what is waiting for us all ahead in life! Before we meet our Maker – and end in eternal damnation and hell fire – and from the moment we are lowered down into our graves!
May Allah God direct us to the right ways and path – Amin. Ramadhan Kareem Greetings! Take Care!
