Pensioners and Retirees Need Medical Insurance Coverage! Reply

Pensioners and Retirees Need Medical Insurance Cover!

August 5, 2019

OUTPOINT – The Pensioners and Retirees being focussed and concentrated here are those mainly in PASI where they have No Medical Insurance Cover as it is being understood.  The Writer stands corrected if it is otherwise!

I think it was Pervez Musharaf ex Pakistan President who said that Pensioners need food, housing and shelter more than anything else compared to high rise buildings big projects and infrastructure etc.
It is well established that these Pensioners and Retirees have been loyal dedicated contributors to the Nation building and Renaissance to what it is today! There is a saying that in a house where the Elder is respected and treated well, than there comes blessings to that house!

Especially Pensioners and Retirees pre 2014 are suffering to make ends meet as the article by Saleh Sheibani has also explicitly revealed last week in The Oman Daily Observer!

With a few exceptions like PDO, Central Bank, Defence etc. where Pensioners and Retirees can still get full Medical attention – but that too there are some few differences in some of the places in comparison to the still working Regular Staff! But even here and in some places are limited only to the Staff – and not his family!

It is true that like places in PDO, they have gone a long way of taking care of The Pensioners and Retirees by giving them equal facilities, services and treatment in The Company Hospitals – and can be referred to outside hospitals for Specialist Diagnosis and Treatment – but this is an exception to the rule where many other Retirees and Pensioners are not so lucky! Indeed, PDO Pensioners have to be grateful to The MD Raoul Restucci and The Chief Medical Officer – Dr. Suleiman Al Rawahi in this regard – with weekly Consultants in different areas of Medicine visiting the main Company Hospital in Mina Al Fahal.

In the same instance in a few years down the line and in years. in the other places where these things are not there, the same staff will face the same situation and circumstances – poetic it be for those now managing, monitoring and administering the policies and procedures!

People cannot afford The Private Hospitals with hidden costs in diagnosis and even in treatment – and going abroad is even more costlier and expensive – and only few people can afford to do so!

Public Hospitals

With also now the more stricter processes of admission in Emergency sections in Public Hospitals – and longer queues to be seen and for follow-ups in Operation Departments – and those who are the more sicker lots are even more at disadvantaged and suffering even more! Sometimes people prefer to suffer in agony and silence at home than to try admission in Public Hospitals – even in the Emergency wards!

Even in the regular check-ups and follow ups in the Public Hospitals can now stretch anything from 3 to 6 months – sometimes even longer due to the congestion of patients vis-à-vis available services to provide! Even the Medical Staff are stretched by overloads of work and the numbers of patients to attend to and in provision of services required!

Continued …

It is also well established that the older generations of over 50s are also growing up equally fast in comparison to the other generations – with many younger generations still looking for jobs and to get married and to settle down – with exorbitant costs in dowries and marriage celebrations that can even stretch to OMR 20, 000 in some few cases! Which is a heavy load to the average working youth – who prefers to wait longer before getting to even think of getting married!

Far Eastern countries like Malaysia and Japan treat their Elders with respect and in best provision of services – in even offering them jobs like Advisors Consultants Mentors etc. – or in part time jobs or working from home! All these are not available to the home Pensioners and Retirees with very few exceptions!

Most of the Elders Pensioners and Retirees can still contribute to the Nation – if the opportunities and chances are given to them! With these extra money in their pockets they can serve themselves better including their families too!

It is also well established that if today there were Elders Old Homes Take Care Centres, a considerable number of The Retirees and Pensioners will be dropped in these places by their children! Many of The Pensioners and Retirees stat alone – with only few exceptions that you will find accommodated at their children homes!

There are even some rumours of same old aged Pensioners and Retirees being mistreated by their children who see the grandparents – or even parents – as a burden that stops them from enjoying life and freedom – or perhaps the nagging part and the constant need of attention emanating from The Retirees and Pensioners!

There have been many cases of the Retirees and Pensioners of not being able to get money and support getting money and support from their children – perhaps because they have put their lives to higher costs and expenditures beyond their means! Saleh Al Sheibani also wrote some years back on this particular dilemma facing The Young Workers now – with some with very good salaries and benefits – but end by mid month with no cash for even basic needs and requirements!

It is well understood that in the current economic situation it maybe difficult – or I would say harder to do – but the point needs to be said as in my introduction of the loyalties commitment dedication services etc. given by The Pensioners and Retirees – and it is high time that their lots and conditions are looked into – especially in seeing they are treated as Pensioners Retirees Post 2014 – and in provision of some Medical Insurance for The Retirees and The Pensioners for those not able to get Medical attention and care!

With Sincere Apologies,

Remarks

My wife and I were booked on the above flights to Zanzibar from Muscat return with our National Airline – Oman Air! We were planning to stay in Tanzania till October 23 2018 as per the above details flight information!

I worked in PDO in Employee Services and at that time I controlled on a First Signature only an annual budget of 18 million US Dollars. I was In Charge of all travels of the Company including Business Travel, Training Staff Leave etc. At the time Oman Air was under Gulf Air during my period of work!

Unfortunately, due to my medical condition we had to curtail our trip – and return early to Muscat. We changed the flight to as above details and we got confirmation from Muscat and even Call Centre Oman Air that our changed plans were in order!

When we reached The Oman Air Counter in Zanzibar on 4th September WY 708 – we were told that we could NOT FLY (sic!) because we had not intimated Oman Air to travel earlier – and Zanzibar nor Dar es Salaam have Oxygen Cylinder – nor does The Flight carry one!

We had a Formal Medical Letter signed by The Royal Hospital in Bowsher. The Sultanate Highest Hospital! An Oman Air part of The Same Sultanate of Oman Apparatus and System – wanted us to bring ANOTHER CERTIFICATION FROM A DOCTOR IN ZANZIBAR – as if The Royal Hospital documents that we travelled with from Muscat to Zanzibar were sort of ‘forged documents’!

If a forgery was to be made the more likely sources would be from where they wanted that the Documents! Even The Zanzibari Doctor (with links to Oman) was amazed bt this request from Oman Air – and he commented – Don’t they trust their own people?? Anyway, it is money for me – so No Problem!

On top of us being humiliated for Not Allowed To Fly – They Oman Air – I do not if it is Oman or Zanzibar – or even both? Nothing will surprise me the way Oman Air Treat The Omani People – especially in routes going to Zanzibar etc. Special Treatment for such Passengers? Even if there is great businesses – and the planes to and fro GO FULL BASIS CAPACITY!

Another Point!

Are Airlines Not Required to carry on board Oxygen Cylinders and Other Contigencies as per International Flying Standards as due to cabin pressures even healthy travelling passengers may require Oxygen due to Cabin Pressures?

Still Yet Another Main Point Here!

Oman Air is taking advantages of Omanis preferring to travel direct to Zanzibar etc!
Why does Oman Air fly SMALLER BOEING CRAFTS to Africa? Even the Business Class seats need much to be desired! I have flown flights with Oman Air to Salalah with WIDER Seats even! Do not talk about the toilet! Fat people like us can HARDLY GO IN!

For a long time, I have been hearing complaints about Oman Air from BOTH Staff and Travellers – but I put it to our usual whining on Petty Things concerning our National Institutions – till I learnt it the Hard Way flying Oman Air!

Oman Air – I Will Not Fly You Again! This Was My LAST FLIGHT WITH YOU!
DO NOT FLY ME – OH OMAN AIR!!!!

Goodbye; My Brother & Friend! Late Muneer Khalfan Al Ismaily! Reply

Goodbye; My Brother & Friend! Late Muneer Khalfan Al Ismaily!

Date of Birth – Zanzibar – 16.02.1953 – DOD – 27.08.2018

Admitted ICU Royal Hospital – 18.08.2018

Like The Good Doctor had told me – Only 1 out of 5 of a Coma State ICU walks of ICU – and your Majid (to my family!) will not be one of them! I walked out – My Dear Brother & Friend did not!

It is Allah’s Will – Allah wanted Muneer back – but not me yet! Al Hamdu Lillah!

*******

It is said that A Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed!

That is how Late My Brother & Friend Muneer has always been to me – and not me alone – but everybody else in his path in life – always cheerful at possible most wrong turn or phase in his life – and in his interfaces and dealings with others in life! Be it that you have known him for a long time in life – or you have just met him in life – whether in a personal private encounter – or in a professional formal capacity!

That is why he was very good professional ethical principled in his job aspects – and always scored High Performance Rankings always in his job in providing Employee Services – especially to The Interior Based Staff of PDO – Petroleum Development Oman! Where people were many a times at short fuse because of the heat, dust and wind! Dust storms that reduced visibilities to a very minimum levels – and people always grumbled and complained of food and almost everything else!

Late Muneer represented ‘The Face of The Company’ – all for bashing – and throwing complaints too! Even some farfetched and personal in nature! Let us face it – few like to work in The Desert – even those born in the same very places! Working in Muscat was in every one’s mind for that matter! In generalisation – that is!

Late Muneer was just like the rest of us! Even in his personal medical life he handled his own issues and life aspects with an unbelievable strong faith and belief – and could even weaken the strongest person in Tests of Allah in Faith and Strength! When I phoned him in India when he was under severe medical treatment – I was crying on the phone! He gently scolded me – if you are phoning me and crying – what about me the person who is under the Medical Treatment? That jolted me back to offer words of encouragement and strength! That was Muneer for you!

*******

We returned to Oman yesterday Thursday 6th September 2018 after holidays in Zanzibar Madam Wife and I!

I was really impressed with The Services and Facilities at The New Airport! It does us Omanis proud to have this State of The Art and High Profile Infrastructure – and we can easily compete with the rest of GCC and even on a world wide scale!

All under Renaissance of Our Beloved Leader His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said! May Allah SWT Protect and Preserve Our Leader – Allah Give him long life, health, well-being and happiness Ameen! May Allah SWT Protect and Preserve our Beloved Oman – from all Fitnas etc. from within and from outside Ya Raab Ameen! It is only when you travel that you find out The Truth – and Miss your own country More! Al Hamdu Lillah!

******

Before I was travelling to Zanzibar I consulted my Dear Brother and Friend Muneer about advices of where to stay in Zanzibar?

As his usual helpful and kind hearted self – he checked around for me! Unfortunately I had gone ahead to book a hotel! He had advised me to wait – from his sources in Zanzibar!

His advice sounded real to the test when we moved out of the hotel he was advising against – and where we had lost money by paying in for the full hotel stay! We moved in to The New State of The Art Hotel Resort of The Bakhressa Group called Hotel Verde Resort Zanzibar! One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in our lives!

Unfortunately the services at Zanzibar Airport leaves much to be desired for changes services and improvement! Unfortunately too with the types of Aircraft sent by Oman Air to African Routes – and the kind of services being provided! That is a follow up article!

REST IN ETERNAL PEACE MY BELOVED BROTHER AND FRIEND!

May Allah SWT Remove from you The Punishment of The Grave! May Allah Open The Highest Gates of Heavens Al Firdaus Ameen Ya Raab!

Only a person of the strength stature character like Late Muneer Allah Rahmah can make you cry when you are in holidays and trying to enjoy yourself!

That Is Muneer For You!

End!

Knowledge or Wealth? Reply

Knowledge or Wealth?

Mowlana ALI (AS) – WEALTH OR KNOWLEDGE.WHICH IS BETTER Sayyidna Ali (AS) once replied to a group of ten learned men who said, ‘We seek your permission for our putting a question to you.’

Sayyidna Ali (AS) replied, ‘You are at perfect liberty.’
They said, ‘of knowledge and wealth, which is better and why. Please give a separate answer to each of us

Sayyidna Ali (AS) answered in ten parts:

1. Knowledge is the legacy of the Prophets; wealth is the inheritance of the Pharaohs. Therefore, knowledge is better than wealth

2. You are to guard your wealth but knowledge guards you. Therefore, knowledge is better.

3. A man of wealth has many enemies, while a man of knowledge has many friends. Hence, knowledge is better.

4. Knowledge is better because it increases with distribution, while wealth decreases by that act.

5. Knowledge is better because a learned man is apt to be generous while a wealthy person is apt to be miserly.

6. Knowledge is better because it cannot be stolen while wealth can be stolen.

7. Knowledge is better because time cannot harm knowledge but wealth rusts in course of time and wears away.

8. Knowledge is better because it is boundless while wealth is limited and you can keep ! account of it.

9. Knowledge is better because it illuminates the mind while wealth is apt to blacken it.

10. Knowledge is better because knowledge induced the humanity in our Prophet to say to GOD ‘we worship thee as we are your servants,’ while wealth engendered in Pharaoh and Nimrod the vanity which made them claim godhead.

This article makes me happy! See my http://www.myownmajid.com & http://www.majidallbooks.com

The knowledge you pass on can continue to benefit others long after you have died! Sadaqa Jariyah!

The Great King Alexander’s Three Death Wishes! Reply

The Great King Alexander’s Three Death Wishes!

The Great King Alexander – after conquering many kingdoms – was returning home. On the way, he fell ill and he was bedridden for months. With death drawing close, Alexander realized how his conquests – his great army – his sharp sword and all his wealth were of no use to him now.

He called all his generals and said – I will depart from the world soon. But I have three wishes. Please fulfill my wishes without fail. With tears flowing down their cheeks, the generals agreed to abide by their King’s last wishes

My First Desire is that – said Alexander – my Physicians alone must carry my coffin.

Secondly – when my coffin is being carried to the grave – the path leading to the graveyard should be strewn with gold, silver and precious stones which I have collected in my treasury.

My Third and Last wish is that both my hands should be kept dangling out of my coffin.

The people that had gathered there wondered at the King’s strange wishes. But no one dared to question;

Alexander’s favorite general kissed his hand and pressed them to his heart. O King – we assure you that your wishes will all be fulfilled. But tell us why do you make such strange wishes?

At this Alexander took a deep breath and said – I would like the World to know of Three Lessons I have just learnt.

I want my Physicians to carry my coffin because people should realize that no Doctor can really cure anybody. They are powerless and cannot save a person from the clutches of Death. So let not people take life for granted.

The Second Wish of strewing gold, silver and other riches on the way to the graveyard is to tell people that that not even a fraction of gold can be taken by me. Let people realize that it is a sheer waste of time to chase wealth.

And about my Third Wish of having my hands dangling out of the coffin – I want people to know that I came empty handed into this world – and empty handed I go out of this world.

Alexander’s last words – Bury my body – do not build any monument for me – keep my hands outside so that the world knows the person who conquered the world had nothing in his hands when dying……

A REAL GREAT ADVICE!

The Triple Filter Test! Reply

The Triple Filter Test.

During the golden Abbasid period, one of The Scholars in Baghdad – the capital of Muslim Caliphate at that time – was reputed to hold knowledge in high esteem.
One day, an acquaintance met The Great Scholar and said – Do you know what I just heard about your friend?

The Scholar – Hold on a minute, before telling me anything I would like you to pass a little Test. It is called The Triple Filter Test.

The Man – The Triple Filter Test?

The Scholar – That is right. Before you talk to me about my friend, it might be a good idea to take a moment and filter what you are going to say.

That is why I call it The Triple Filter Test. The First Filter is TRUTH.

Have you absolutely made sure that what you are about to tell me is TRUE?

The Man – No – actually I just heard about it ….

The Scholar – All right. So you do not really know if it is true or not. Now let us try The Second Filter Test – the Filter of GOODNESS.

Is what you are about to tell about my friend something good?

The Man – No, on the contrary …

The Scholar – So you want to tell me something bad about him – buy you are not certain it is true. You may still pass the test though – because there is one Filter left. This is The Filter of USEFULNESS.

Is what you want to tell me about my friend going to be useful to me?

The Man – No, not really…

The Scholar – Well, if what you want to tell me is neither true nor good – nor even useful – why tell me at all?

The Holy Quraan – Surah 49 – Al Hujaraat – Ayah 12 –

O ye who believe! Avoid much suspicions, indeed some suspicions are sins. And spy not, neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting).

And fear Allah. Verily, Allah is The One Who Accepts repentance. Most Merciful.

Now what would you do about this message?

The least you can do is to tell others about it.

ALLAH MAAKUUM

A Story Worth Reading! Reply

A Story Worth Reading!

Since last night my young son has been unwell. When I got back from Work this evening I decided to take him to hospital despite my exhaustion.

There were many waiting; perhaps we will be delayed by more than an hour. I took my number and sat down in the waiting room. There were many faces, young and old, but all silent. Some brothers made use of the many booklets available in the waiting room. Some of those waiting had their eyes closed, while others were looking around. Most were bored. Once in a while the long silence was broken by a nurse calling out a number. Happiness appears on the one whose turn it is, and he gets up quickly; then silence returns.

A young man grabbed my attention. He was reading a pocket-sized Qur`an continuously; not raising his head even once. At first I did not think much about him. However, after one hour of waiting my casual glances turned into a deep reflection about his lifestyle and how he utilizes his time. One hour of life wasted! Instead of making benefit of that hour, it was just a boring wait. Then the call for prayer was made. We went to prayer in the hospital’s Masjid. I tried to pray close to the man who was reading the Qur’an earlier in the waiting room.

After the prayer I walked with him. I informed him of how impressed I was of him and how he tries to benefit from his time. He told me that most of our time is wasted without any benefit. These are days that go from our lives without being conscious of them or regretting their waste. He said that he started carrying the pocket-sized Qur`an around when a friend encouraged him to make full use of his time. He told me that in the time other people waste he gets to read much more of the Qur`an than he gets to read either at home or in the masjid. Moreover, besides the reward of reading the Qur`an, this habit saves him from boredom and stress.

He added that he has now been waiting for one and a half hours. Then he asked, when will you find one and a half hours to read the Qur`an? I reflected; How much time do we waste? How many moments of our lives pass by, and yet we do not account for how they passed by? Indeed, how many months pass by and we do not read the Qur`an? I came to respect my companion, and I discovered that I am to stand for account and that time is not in my hand; so what am I waiting for?

My thoughts were interrupted by the nurse calling out my number; I went to the doctor. But I want to achieve something now. After I left the hospital I quickly went to the bookshop and bought a pocket-sized Qur`an. I decided to be mindful of how I spend the time.

If this information is beneficial to you, then please do forward it to your friends and relatives. Our Prophet (SAW) said; ‘Whoever guides or directs to good, then he gets the same amount of blessing (reward) as the one who does it’

The Prophet (SAW) also said ‘Pass on knowledge from me even if it is only one verse’

ESTAWOO – Arrange Yourselves!

استوووا ….

In the program called (ONE FAMILY) on MAJD TV Channel

The speaker was Dr.Yahya Alyahya (head of the CALL to Islam Committee)

He said that Muslims are never disorganized; they just need to be CONVINCED.

THEN HE TOLD A STORY OF AN AMERICAN NON MUSLIM MAN WHO WAS DISCUSSING ABOUT ISLAM WITH HIM WHILE HE WAS WATCHING LIVE .ON BROADCAST OF SALAT ISHA FROM KAABAH, ON TV

The American man was so amazed of how crowded is the masjid, more than 3 million Muslims were there at the last nights of the holy month of Ramadan, so crowded, so disorganized.

The sheikh asked the Non-Muslim man: How long do you think they’ll take to organize themselves in rows and start the Salaat?

He answered: at least 2-3 hours

The sheikh said: but the masjid (HARAM) of Kaaba is 4 floors

The man said: OH, this’s will make it about 12 hours then

The sheikh said: put in your mind that they are from countries all over the world with different languages.

The American man said: THEN IT’s IMPOSSIBLE TO ORGANIZE THEM BY ANY MEANS!!

Then the Salaat time came, and sheikh Sudais of Makkah stood up and said (ESTAWOO)=Arrange yourselves

And within seconds, the whole scene changed and the crowd of 3 million Muslims arranged themselves in well-organized rows in NO TIME !!

The American man stared at the TV screen for a moment, and then said:

ASH-HADU AN LA ILAHA ILLA ALLAH WA ANNA MOHAMMADAN RASOOLOLLAH.
(I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but ALLAH, and I bear witness that Mohammad is His Servant and Messenger)

With Prayers!

Hurtful, Cruel, Mean and Painful Words! Reply

Hurtful, Cruel, Mean and Painful Words!

(ORIGINAL)

Article From The Archives – Between Us Only! The Oman Daily Observer!

ADD ON!

The worst part of all these is being told those words by supposed to be near you – like a Family Relative or Friend! Like this one from such a person – When I was moving out from Qorum Heights – What are you going to do with your books? Burn them? Imagine telling that to an Author & Writer – and who loves his book and with a passion for writing!

Read on!

There is nothing wrong in expressing yourself, so long as it is focused, objective and constructive – rather than being deadly, abusive and destructive. Or using foul (4 letter words!), ugly, acrimonious and ‘venom hatred filled’ punches and counter-punches. When some families fight, the whole street would know!

So it seemed a marriage created and with final touches from the good heaven itself, until that is the wife decided to walk away from that marriage and asked for her divorce saying – “I hate that man! I simply cannot stand the sight of him; he is all artificial and not real. No words of exchange in 12 years? How is it to be possible, natural and possible”?

***

There is no married life without bliss, quarrels and fights. It is not only in such relationships, but also between friends, family and relatives for that matter too. Sometimes even high up the pedestals between communities and nations too. It may take years and years of toil, hardship. Forbearance and creation to build very solid and formidable relationships – but only a few seconds in hurtful, vengeful and painful words to destroy that.

Most important is – do not let your brain tell your mouth what to speak, and then you speak it! Once said it cannot be taken back. Do you know that the most hurtful and painful things one can say against another are between peoples who are supposed to be very near and close to you? Think for a moment – who knows you best? Isn’t that your own spouse, best friend or relative – the closer the more worse? Outsiders don’t know you that close. Outside peoples always see an angel and nice things only in you – ‘butter would not melt in your mouth type’! Only those close or near you know you better, for the real and mantle you! Heard the phrase – familiarity breeds contempt?

One person it is said had asked our Great Prophet (PBUH) – Oh Great Prophet, what should I do to have peoples respect and esteem me a lot? He was told – do not ask anything (favours) from anyone! Do you notice what is the difference between us and God (whichever denomination). The more you ask from man, the more you lose respect, like and esteem. With God it is different, the more you ask of God – the more He likes it that man is asking from Him. True too, isn’t it dear Reader?

When I was a younger man, I know of one couple that was married for more than 12 years. There was not even one word said in anger fury or disappointment between them. The man admitted he was very happy with his wife, the wife with her husband. So it seemed a marriage created and with final touches from the good heaven itself, until that is the wife decided to walk away from that marriage and asked for her divorce saying – “I hate that man! I simply cannot stand the sight of him; he is all artificial and not real. No words of exchange in 12 years? How is it to be natural and possible”. It seemed she needed to express herself a bit now and then, but was denied the chance and opportunity by the ‘hen pecked doting’ husband!

Sometimes when things get out of control, they end up in divorce. On the subject, I asked a Muslim Scholar friend of mine. I said – K, please tell me this, or clarify it for me! Why is it in our Religion that the man can divorce his wife that easily, but for the wife she has to request to be divorced, and the husband has to agree.

If he does not agree, than there have to be others to be involved. But none are required if he decided Instead?). The good man replied – because women are known for their temperaments, their ups and downs (related to their genes and body). The good man then asked me – don’t you think, if they were allowed to do so, that most men would have been divorced, some several times too? I could not find any reason to argue with him. Besides, you certainly do not argue these delicate sensitive things in Religion.

With the latest technologies and innovation, it is not only speaking but even writings too. Simply do not answer an E-Mail when you are angry and furious, however infuriating, disappointing and annoying one is received by you from anyone, especially job related at work. E-Mails are simply like spoken words, once you have spoken them, it is too late to take them back. They have gone to the ears of that other person!

Nowadays if I am annoyed by an E-Mail, I take time to cool down. If I must reply, I reply it – first I make SURE that I will not send it. I may type my angry retort, and then be SURE to delete it!. Or I write my response in another place, and then destroy that paper. Try it – actually it will make you relieved, and give you time for a more reasoned approach! The old days of being quick to the button retorts had put me in a lot of troubles – it is best avoided. Do not forget and can be said against you – you are a Professional, supposed to serve and to know better too!.

So next time you fight with your hubby, or he has annoyed you, do not let what you really think of him go into your head, and tell him exactly what you think of him. That goes to you too man to wife, or to friend, or anyone else for that matter. Can you believe that these kind of words have been heard to be uttered between peoples supposed to be one, let alone between enemies or adversaries (compiled from various sources!):-

• Sometimes you behave like a prostitute, the way you are after money (things)!
• I have always suspected you to be a gay (homosexual, lesbian, crook, thief etc) person!
• I saw your ex fiancée (supposed to get married to) today with his new find, how long before he dumps her like he did to you?
• From day one, you had never been committed to this marriage (or had ever liked me).
• I should have NEVER married you or even let our paths cross.
• I wish I was dead, so I was free from you.
• My father is right, he knew you to be what you really are, the good man.
• Why did I ever get married to such a poor loafer like you?
• You are very stingy and misery with our family, but not with your Mother etc..
• Everyone is invited to the party but not you. Nobody likes even to see your ugly face now.
• You never take me out till I force you, and that has to be after a BIG fight too.
• Act and behave like a real he-man (not like a lady).
• What is the difference between you and your Mother – you are both cheap easy going stuff – like Mother like daughter.
• Like Father Like son, you are both number one crooks and not to be trusted.
• You are a great actress, as if butter will not melt on your mouth.
• If I had married XYZ, where would I be today!
• Your mother (or father, brother, sister etc) again wants favours from me!
• Your drunkard alcoholic uncle (or whatever) took some more money from me today to buy more drinks, drugs etc. He wanted 20 Rials, I gave him 5 only.
• The children are crazy etc. because they take it from you and your family side.
• Your parents (or children) think you are an angel, they do not know about ….. (Secret only you two know)!
• There again your Freeloader relative has come to the house uninvited!
• Who invited them for dinner, they just drop in like it is a Free Soup Serving Place!
• Next time your relatives break (spoil) anything, I shall ask them to pay!
• No, I have a headache (just do not want or feel like it).
• Worse still – I shall find it outside, if you keep saying No!
• Your mouth (or body) smells awful.
• I don’t have any money (why should I help you?)
• Your family is coming for dinner, you better take them out (or order) dinner. I am not cooking anything for them, they always find faults in my cooking (never appreciate).
• My first (wife or husband) was a real person (man), not like you …!
• Worse still – I do not like the way you are doing this to me …! (It does give a connotation of comparing!)
• One of these days I shall pack my bags and just disappear (or something else that you will do)!
• Why don’t you drop dead, so at least there is peace in the house.
• Go and -the F word – yourself.
• For heavens sake do not involve the children in this!
• I feel like leaving this marriage now for good, I am really tired – cannot take this anymore!
• So many other hurtful, painful words once said cannot be withdrawn! Sow so shall you reap, it has been said so many times – but who listens? Or what goes around, comes around – for that matter too!

So next time you have a fight, do not let that evilness and ugliness that is within us all tell you or dictate you what to say. Or don’t open your mouth and say what you are thinking – for Heavens sake! Once said it cannot be taken back or be withdrawn. The Americans and Brits say count to 10 first. I say count to 20 at least!

The Secret Marriage! Or The New Wife! Reply

The Secret Marriage!

THE NEW WIFE!

Or

The Marriage In Secret!

Seems like it is A TRUE STORY!!!

He was reading this newspaper, when this angelic voice he used to remember called him up.

Only angels do not cry on the phone. It was the lady she knew calling him to tell him that after a rancorous and bitter feud, her husband had declared that he was divorcing her and that she was no longer his wife. She cried to him – what can I do? To be divorced at this age? And the children too, especially the one who was very close to the father. She stopped eating, and her grades in school were falling down badly. She had suddenly developed a nasty and mean streak and a very bad and furious temper too. To make it worse, the poor girl was blaming the Mother for the break up. You never paid attention or care to dad, most of the time he would be alone in the TV room watching news and documentaries, whilst the rest of us looked at the soap operas, and without a care or feeling for him.

When he returned from Office, only I ran to say hello to him and welcome him home, the rest of you were glued to the so-called-live-shows showing men and women living together in quarters, and how they behaved to each other. Sad too that it were all home peoples and the show was being shown live to millions in the region. If a curt response to his greeting as he entered the hose being made by the rest of you, then he was lucky. It was always the housemaid who made the food for him, and made it warm when he came in. Including that tea he usually liked after his meals.

Mum, the girl added, even if you were making tea, you never asked him if he wanted some too, and when he asked for some, you told the house maid to do it for him, why not you. The worst part was when we came to the house with ordered food from outside, and not only we did not ask him what he wanted, but ate in front of him the food as if he did not exist. It was only him and the housemaid who ate the home cooked food, whilst the rest of us plunged ourselves in different dishes day by day ordered outside, and when he asked – what about me? What did you reply?

All that food in the house and you want to order outside too? Who will eat the cooked food then (you of course and your house maid)? Was not that sending him away into another woman’s arms (and hugs!), by what you did to him, Mummy? Eh, Mummy? Child – shut up – the mother reprimanded. Still that was no excuse for him to go off and marry that young lass, just the age of his eldest daughter.

Is he not ashamed of himself? What does he think he is doing? Has he suddenly become that young and virile again for new adventures? Mum, the girl protested, that is my dad you are talking about, and you are embarrassing us. See the Mother said, there was no excuse for what he did, and he marrying in secret. It was only I was looking for the copy of the car registration, and I found the car closet closed. When I took his car keys and opened it, I got the biggest shock of my life to see the marriage certificate (of his marriage in secret to the young lass) and can you believe your uncle was a witness, and he said nothing. And all these things happened six months ago?

I had seen the secret wedded wife, and she looked pregnant and with a wedding finger in her hand. When I asked her who she got married to, now I understand now how she had changed all the colours of the rainbow – just replying Aunty you would not recognize him, even if I told you who he was! And calling me Aunty too – the cheek and audacity of it all.

The young wedded in secret girl recalled what his father from the Interior had told her – Daughter, you are going to start a new job now in the city after your graduation from the University. You seem too much excited about your new boss, and you say that he is the best gentleman you have ever met, nice and friendly and very helpful. Daughter, you worry me – dad says. I think you are getting infatuated with this new boss of yours. Come on – the daughter protested – be serious.

He is just your age, what do you take me for? Anyway daughter, the father cuts in, if he is interested in you and you in him, then I give my blessings to wed in secret, it is damage control and better this way, then to have illicit and not legal affairs with him. All I ask is to see the official wedding certificate, which is all I ask. The dowry is not important, nor are the celebrations, and the fewer peoples know about it, the better for all.

It was too months ago before the divorce, when ‘the friend and confidante’ had told her that ‘hubby had married in secret’ and the lass was a village girl working in his place, and that is the reason he had left the place, because wife and hubby working in one place was not on, especially he who was supposed to monitor the rules, regulations and policies of the place.

It had started with simple small SMS messages and the last one before things ‘got hot’ was she said – Sir, I am looking forward to work under you. You are the best boss in the world, a First Class gentleman and I am very happy to have met and known you. So he teased her back. What do you mean working under me? She laughs out loud! A tease SMS comes – If you see everything red around you – Do Not Be Scare! You are in My Heart! His time now to laugh aloud! He teases her! She teases him back! Teases became serious stuff. Soon they were meeting in secret, and he telling her how unhappy he was with ‘my wife and life’.

Then he suddenly went cold. He felt guilty that he was cheating on his wife and family, though all he did was just a few small pecks and holding hands. That cannot be cheating, the voice inside him said, just holding hands – be serious man! The girl had cried, why are turning away from me, you are breaking my hurt. What have I done wrong, please tell me so I can correct myself, and please tell me. PLEASE.

You are too young to understand. A few years from now you will be tired of ‘this fancy toy’ and look for something better to toy around with. No, she protested, I do not care. I love you (that is it, the word and others to follow soon came out. I love you. I am ready to be yours for ever, but please keep it secret between us two only. A week later the marriage took place. Far months later, the divorce also took place.

The first wife insisted either her or me – you cannot have it both ways. You cannot have your cake, and eat it too. You must choose between us. Remember your children? Yes, he replied, but she is 6 months pregnant already, and with my child.!How do you know it is your child? From what I heard – she moves around! You stupid man! Can you still do it? I do not think. That was the last straw. The straw that broke the camel’s back.

The words that came out he never thought he will ever say, but he uttered them just the same.

He had made his choice, even if it was forced on him!

How I Feel!

October 4, 2009.

Just Trying To Explain It – Finally!

  • God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference – Reinhold Niebuhr
  • Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind! – Doctor Seuss

I do not know about you but lately I have been too much worried and concerned about the number of young people that I know that have died violently mainly due to traffic accidents. It is not only a wastage of National resources and potentials but the scars, pain, hurt, deprivation and feelings of lose that they leave behind especially to their especially parents, family and friends is grave and unbearable. Yet you still see them on the roads continuing unabated – and the sad tragic irony is that more elder peoples and even the fairer sex have joined in the melee. It does not matter which size or what car one drives – but I notice that it is mainly those in the smaller and in the sports cars that are mainly responsible – though there are those too in the bigger vehicles and the 4WD too.

I then sit with my neighbour and friend BA and we discuss about how many of our friends that we went out together on early retirement to abandon ship that had died so far. I count 15 I tell him, and then we check out the names – and he is right that I had missed two and his numbers are correct. They mainly went the natural or sick way, thank God at least! So we compare notes still further – and I ask him – are you afraid and scared like I am? He looks me straight at the eye and says – we all have to go one day, and I take each day one by one as it comes – and I may be afraid but there is simply nothing you can do about it.

But just try to do all the good you can before your time comes – and try to be friendly and forgive as best as you can to those that had been as adversary and confronting to one in life before – whether by purpose intentionally or by default! We discuss together on the notion that over 35@ of people that take retirement die in the first 10 years from retirement – perhaps due to boredom, despair and disappointments – or simply because of antipathy and frustrations in the new lives they now meet!

Then we recall how we too used to have exchanges in our time together. Strangely and coincidentally, we have also been neighbours in the same Department and Offices for the last 10 years in our career life. I had even taken over his job responsibilities of being in charge of the Company accommodation allocations to staff – mainly expatriates – whilst he was moved to other job aspects. Then he tells me – did they ever tell you why they gave you this added responsibility to your job aspects?

I feign innocence – and then he tells me – nothing new, as I have heard it all before! So I tell him – you know what? Great Madam Apple of my eyes always mocks me with this and other slogans of credit and praises given to me – what has it helped you or assisted you in your career, future potentials and prospects? Nothing except bad things that had brought you down and being looked down by those in decision making!

And that you operated outside the system rather than being inside to try to make changes from within as part of the system – rather than from outside with dismal and poor results – albeit being famous, well liked and popular from outside! But by peoples that cannot do anything for you, or you to gain anything from them! You are the loser – not them! – She adds in the salt to the wound! It hurts me more!

Then my friend tells me! This is something I have never told you before – but I will tell you now! You know people really respect, admire and adhere you – even those against and that are adversary to you – because you stood out to speak the truth. You fought for the under dogs and the victims at danger and loss to yourself. You always were ethical, professional, principled and equitable. You treated everyone fairly and ethically, with no bias, discrimination or favour. Whether Omani or Expatriate – and with no colourings, polarizations, creed, race or religion – everyone was treated equally and fairly by you! Is that not something as a credit or achievement?

I then tell him No – according to Madam’s books and estimation. I am seen as sacrificing myself and my family for ‘lost causes and purposes’ – and those that I stood up for, tried to defend or cared for did not bother the least after what they could get as a result from you. You were just judged as someone out on lost cause (the rebel without a cause syndrome!) and out for a convert popularity contest that went off quite badly – and the losers were you – and nobody else. Only you made your family especially suffer in the process – and even those that you stood up for and fought for saw you in vain and weak and naïve – even bordering stupidity too – and this time it is chilies too added to the wound – not just salt! Even the family think like me – she adds in!

I then try to defend myself. I am a Believer; I try as much as I can to be one. In the books it goes – You have three stages to make changes. The highest level is making the changes if you can do that yourself (have the authority and power to do so). If not then you go down to level two – that is trying to cause change by speaking and acting out against it. But if you cannot do that – then the lowest level is the third one of saying to your heart you are against this – but are afraid and scared to do anything about it – leave it all in your heart and inside you only. Outside you go along – or just doing your job by following orders! Leave the rest to Almighty God only!

There is also this saying – only dead fish go with the tide. So I say to her – I have never gone down to level three ever before in my life, I ended up best at level two only. Give me my life all over again – and in most likelihood I may repeat myself and do the same things all over again. I want to go and sleep at night with a clear and clean conscience. For sure if I cannot help or assist anyone for any particular reason, I will tell that person transparently clear – and even explain why. But certainly, I will NEVER go out to purposely hurt, pain and disadvantage someone for gaining any points, advantage or popularity. That I will never do. And if by default, I will come out to apologise – and try to remedy and correct!

Then I remember so many that had advised me – great high profile peoples that I need to use their titles first before I call them by their first names even – M – Do Not Change! You are unique and are different – one of a kind – remain as you are. If in private so many CEOs and – so many Chairman and Directors have told me the same – something must be right here somewhere! Madam must be wrong – and maybe it is all due to this fight where everyone says wrong things to only make a bad situation only worse – you be the judge!

That is me – and I will never change. Especially now at this stage. Take me, as I am – nothing less – and nothing more! Take Care!

Signs of The Times! Saudi Woman Divorces Husband! Reply

Signs of The Times!

Or Be Careful What You Wish For!

A Saudi woman divorces husband who wanted to take a second wife!

August 14, 2018

A Saudi woman divorced her husband after he announced his intentions of taking a second wife … because a dream-interpreter told him to, Sada news site reported.

The couple’s separation story all began when the husband started to have a recurring dream in which he pays back a debt to an acquaintance who then hands him a flower.

The man wanted someone to explain what the dream meant and so sought a dream-interpreter.
“I spoke to him about it, he smiled and told me it meant I was going to take a second wife, a woman who’s my relative,” the man said.

The wife refused to be part of a polygamous marriage!

The husband also added that when he told his mother what the dream-interpreter had said, she was ecstatic.

“She told me my cousin had feelings for me long before I got married and was still single, so she’d go ahead and ask her parents for her hand in marriage,” he explained.

When the man told his wife about his plans to marry again, she immediately left the couple’s home, taking their daughter with her.

Refusing to be in a polygamous marriage, she later divorced him.

The woman’s decision echoes the fact that to many Arab women, polygamy is culturally unacceptable. Even though some in the region accept the phenomenon as unconditionally permissible in Islam, the religion only allows for it to happen under a very tight frame of conditions. The dream-interpreter got it all wrong!

After his divorce, the man got engaged to his cousin, however, not everything went according to plan.
“Pre-marriage blood tests revealed that we weren’t compatible,” he explained.

When the man’s plan to remarry failed, he tried to get back with his first wife, but she had already moved on.

“After a while, she got married to another man. The events I saw in my dream unfolded right before my eyes when her new husband came to my house and handed me my daughter, Al Warda, ‘The flower,'” he said.

“If I knew the dream would end up destroying my marriage, I wouldn’t have gone to that dream-interpreter,” he added.

The Hopeless Lot! Reply

The Hopeless Lot!

First Posted January 5th 2010!

Some days back I was invited to one friend’s house for Dinner and I was commenting on the first class show put up for the Official Opening Ceremony of The Muscat Festival. I could see their detached and forlorn looks as if they had been to the Dentist, and wanted it all over. So I queried – what gives? They looked at each other in blank stares, and I could see that they were trying hard to remain diplomatic and tactful, and could see that ’sharp to the point crude reply’ was being kept at bay.

Then they asked me – before we answer we want to ask you a question. Can we? I replied – please go ahead and fire away! I am not sure if that was what I said, sometimes I like to use – shoot! Hopefully one day one will not take it at its literal meaning, and really do the shooting! If that would happen, I guess I will have no one to blame except myself for volunteering it myself!

But seriously though, they went on to ask me how come that I am supposed to be a weekly columnist, and they have not seen anything that I write on the recent price rises and peoples like them (unfortunate and miserable were the adjectives used!), who faced the greatest pinch and hardships of just starting with their married lives were the hardest hit lot with rising rent hikes. They said the rents went even more than the so-called limit that was set, with an ultimatum of ‘take it or leave it’ syndrome!

And yes – you have the guts to ask why we seem so interested not to watch the show? Perhaps did you not think that we could not even afford to go to see the shows, we are not just talking about gate fees but you know the ‘temptation thing to buy something when we go in’? So I had the dinner and left Madam to deal with her relatives, whilst I made an early and quick escape. I guess even for a person who likes his food well, I did not find that particular meal as that refreshing and appetizing.

*****************************************************************************************************************

After my last article, which was titled At Your Service, I got many angry and upset emails from some young Omanis especially. One works in the Marketing field, another in Insurance and Investment. I picked these two as the best of the lot, the most acrimonious upset and angrier lot. I am repeating them as sent, of course without revealing the identities, so here goes anyway!

(From A) – Tell me about it! (Sad caricature!) – Your article this week M – It is very discouraging and makes me mad pissed off angry! My boss is an Expatriate and his boss is also an Expatriate, they treat us very bad. After several years of getting Superior Performance in my Staff Appraisals, this year I got just Satisfactory. I didn’t panic or anything cuz my sister just passed away and I was sick for a long time – and I was like “what will I gain from the Top Grading, I will die one day”.

But then I said to myself, I worked hard for this grade, I gave my time and energy for this place and now I have to accept the lower grading??!! Then I went to the big people and told them about it. You know I think it’s a useless case. Honestly I am tired of this place; the only thing that makes me stay here is my parent’s house mortgage – as I don’t want it to be closed. If I am getting nothing in my own country I might as well get nothing outside. The problem is that people here won’t change, and they will continue to give more power to Expatriates cuz they don’t trust their own people.

All people in my age would rather leave their country and be somewhere else. We need someone to hear us. One day I dreamt that I am screaming “help” to my Omani boss and the Expatriate boss was laughing at me (it was some nightmare) …I know I am quite capable of so many things. People tell me to get married and have kids and settle. Surprisingly this is not what is happening nowadays. In today’s life people those who get married and have kids won’t settle down, they will need to get a second job to be able to live. Life is more expensive; women who get married now need at least a salary of 1000 OMR to be able to spend over their kids. I am single and live alone, I have no responsibilities whatsoever except going to work.

However, my salary is not enough when I have to pay the bills and put food on the table, how about if I got married and have kids. It’s a disaster. P.S: the Expatriate manager takes (big amount) salary and still wears cheap everyday same clothes for the last 10 years – (so disgusting and out of fashion too). Man as I said it’s a useless case. Don’t ever think that it will change and people will start appreciating you or sponsoring your book, unless you write a book about how great they are (smiling caricature). Please write about me and all the young people in Oman who can’t scream “help” – not even in a nightmare!

From B – Keep up the good works, people like you M make the world go around. You make us all sit up and take notice! You make us to think! Hey, you are saying the truth here! Sad some of the Management are so slow to appreciate talents and skills like you have.

We need peoples like you – who can come out in the open, and stand counted. But I am also afraid – very afraid! I guess if it was for the Expatriate, it would get a big cover and be supported by everyone! It is a BIG disappointment really. I was interviewed by one Executive (Ex Expatriate now Omani) now, and he was sniggering when we said – You know we Omanis..

Then I asked him We? He said Yes I am Omani and here is my Passport (pulled out from his draw). Who asked him?? And why he wants to show it off? I have nothing personal against them being Omanis. But the Expatriate Mafia have controlled our country for so long now. Something gotta give soon. That scares me, with everyone is so sad and unhappy – that we sometimes hate Saturdays are back and return to work! Your article captures it all! And the Omani bosses. They are all concerned just about themselves, their status and positions, and will never rock the boat. Not for anyone!

*****************************************************************************************************************

Do I need to say anymore? I think it is QED!

The youth are saying it – again – and we need to open our ears and hear, open our eyes and see, and open our mouths to speak – Take Care!

All Under One Platform!

First Published April 13 2010

Several years ago, I remember well this incident when I was still working in one neighbouring country.

The family accommodation that I was provided with had satellite facilities that were provided to Staff at unbelievable special prices as a Special Package to those Oil Company Staff only. I took all the available packages to occupy my mind and thoughts as originally I was there alone in this very big apartment – until my son had joined me later on!

One day I had a problem with both two satellite channels receivers. As one provider technician had come in, I asked him if he could look in into the other satellite receiver as well? His reply was short and curt – I come from this other company – and cannot even touch that receiver – let alone look into it and repair it. The other technician said the very same thing – when the opposite channel was not working properly!

Now both these two channels are working under one joint name and platform, and they have been able to give all their channels services at almost 70% of the original charged price if you were to take them separately – as in the past – and still they are making a profit to be able to provide all these services of channels all under one platform – or one roof! Where once they were bitter feuds and competition, they now operate as one – all under one platform – as their new drive and motto!

The question to ask oneself is this. Why did they do it? It was out of necessity more to survive and stay in the market – from other channels that were providing equally good programmes to the public for free. These ones were surviving more because of advertisements – and making families feel safe and secure that even inadvertently and or by chance any child below 18 had pressed the buttons for these channels – there was nothing scary or to worry about because they cut all the X-rated parts – and the unsightly and forbidden parts too.

The ideas were starting to catch on – and people had already started thinking why they should pay for paying channels – when you can get almost the same films and programmes for free – and more decently delivered too! To survive they had come up with new ideas and solutions – fast and rapidly too!

Which brings me to the point I want to make today here – and especially this is addressed to The Property Developers in our country – and can even be applicable to others too were there are stiff and feuding competition for survival – and for markets and clients. Though I did take Marketing in my studies, it was just one module – but I am really convinced and confident that the idea merits further consideration and review – especially in this sector that is suffering greatly from markets, clients and customers confidence and trust. And lack of commitment and investment opportunities, confidence and trust.

Just imagine this. They joining forces and to be able to operate under one roof – and provide all the services, choices and options under one umbrella and one platform. You want a villa in town? Same time you want a villa in the suburbs – or country villa? And a good office location too? Then why go to three or more places? Go to one place only! Within one hat, umbrella and centre, they will be able to serve all your needs and requirements – all under one roof and one platform.

The beauty of this idea is also this. It will open a venue for the Top Performers Executives and Senior Managers to prove their mantle, capabilities and performance – and to compete for the few positions in the new joint place. A State Regulatory Board will also need to be established at the same time – in line like the Telecommunications one – and The Water and Electricity one – to choose the best minds, brains, entrepreneurship, dynamism, pragmatism, and high performers and deliverers! It will also get rid of elements that should have been removed out long time ago – but are simply being protected by personalities and friendships – and lesser to do with the real realities and right practices, approaches and performances.

It will also remove all those things going on now that are not professional, not ethical, not principled, not sincere and not genuine – and also ensuring timely payments to staff, customers and clients. It will also remove all the current practices that are really against the country’s laws, regulations, procedures and systems – and it will open a wider window of choice, opportunity and investment – and create market stability, trust and confidence.

It is a matter of fact that there are some customers and clients that may like certain choices in certain locations – but are not too sure of The Operators of those locations. Similarly there are those with Hobson’s choice of locations – simply because they have more trust and confidence with these Developers – but not too keen on the locations themselves.

Having worked in these sectors and seeing all that is going on there, I personally recommend the idea strongly to our Leadership to think about – and to regulate the market with the best practices – and a window of opportunity for real employment opportunities for Omanis especially – and to support and encourage much needed the right and correct tourism and investment opportunities in the country.

Take Care!

PDO Pensioner Power – Al Fahal 469 – June 2018! Reply

PDO Pensioner Power!

A new Pensioners Committee has been set up to represent the interests of PDO retirees. The committee, chaired by Ali Al Mandhry, former Head of the Medical Laboratory, has the vision of helping to make the PDO pension community the best in class within pension communities in Oman and the region.

The news came as almost 600 retirees attended annual pensioner gatherings in Muscat, Fahud and Marmul. Ali offered his thanks to PDO management for their “continuous support” and those who had place their trust in him as the chairman.

He said: “We have a harmonious relationship between PDO and retirees. It is a dialogue.

“We are also ambassadors for PDO.”

Managing Director Raoul Restucci said: “PDO is fully committed to having a strong and ongoing relationship with its pensioner community and we welcome the formation of the Pensioners Committee.

“This committee will play a very important role in strengthening the retiree network and representing their views in discussions with the Company as well as updating them on decisions and policy changes.”

Ali, who is joined by Ali Al Ismaili, Shaikha Al Harthy and Rashid Al Alawi on the committee, which will represent members on issues of importance such as financial benefits and medical provision.

A new pensioner booklet was also launched, answering frequently asked questions and containing information on important topics such as the Al Yusr scheme, which has now loaned more than US$10 million to more than 800 retirees.

There are currently 2,166 people in the PDO pensioner family, with an average age of 64.3 years.

Raoul gave a business update at the Muscat and Fahud events and said: “We are going to continue this annual gathering as long as I am here. Thank you for the incredible role you have played for making PDO what it is today.

Invest in Local Talents! Charity Begins At Home!

This article was First Written March 2010 in My Between Us Only! Column in The Oman Daily Observer!

Invest In Local Talents!

The other day I was watching a literary presentation of awards and I was watching keenly if there would be some Local Writers or Authors that I know who write in English (like me – rather than in Arabic) who would be presented with some awards, but I saw none. Than it dawned on me that peoples like us are ‘not recognised’ because we write in a ‘Foreign’ language, though I could see some ‘Foreign peoples’ but who write instead in Arabic being recognized for their skills and talents.

I have to admit that made me feel very bad, worse to see the Association built to recognize such skills and talents missing us ‘foreigners who write in a foreign language’. That made me realize of what is really at stake here, and if these kind of things are allowed to persist, not only it builds alienation and indifference, but would go a long way of killing any enthusiasm, initiative, keenness and budding rising talents and entrepreneurship – and especially after all the talks and focus in Human Resources Development in the country. It may even lead to bias, discrimination and polarization – things that are all bad and nobody wants to give even an iota of starting to come and creep in!

When I wanted to have my first book (Between Us Only), I had put an advertisement in all the local newspapers looking for a sponsor. I even wrote personal appeal letters to some CEOs in very high places for my book to be sponsored. They in turn gave the ‘draft book’ to their expatriate subordinates, and I then immediately realized that my book will never see the light of day because my book was very hard hitting (like the article The Chicken and Egg Story) and no expatriate – to say the least – would have wanted this book to be published in the first instance, let alone it to be sponsored! These facts were proved correct by the refusals and rejections (pink slips) by one or the other on the ‘flimsiest of excuses’ – like a large Financial Institution that had made large profits in the last year in not having ‘the funds to sponsor the book’ per se!

I was just contemplating of going abroad to other ‘help avenues indicated to me’ – coincidentally by well meaning decent and good intentioned expatriates – when this gentle person local CEO of a fully Omani run prestigious Company agreed to sponsor my book, and the book was finally published – after a very long delay of months whilst it was still under ‘censor’ to get its license to get it published. I vowed to myself (and still do) not to go through these motions again.

This time I vowed to print my second book (Psychology of Arab Management Thinking – ready for printing) by saving first myself and printing it in Book Surge in Amazon Com, or Trafford in Canada. But the savings have still not materialized, after one after another in paying peoples in my ‘failed Human Resources Development Consultancy business’ – which is a separate story all by itself! It seems to me that there is a ‘personal vendetta and agenda’ out there to ensure that this book too does not see the ‘light of day’ – and this time for sure too. One would definitely and naturally feel shy and ashamed to go to the first sponsor again for sponsorship of the second book!

The book coming out into existence was not the end of it, actually it was just the beginning of more things to come. Approaching different bookshops to run my book in their bookshops and stalls first here in Oman, there was only one Family run business that took the book in and ran it all over in Oman and in exhibitions, and portraying it in strategic positions in all their branches all over Oman. I am eternally grateful for this. The book is the only place still selling my book. They deserve a pat in the back for encouraging local talents and entrepreneurship.

The story was not successful in the other bookshops in the country. There were those who curtly responded that they only stock Arabic (and Religious!) books, but if I was so kind to translate the book into Arabic (although 80% of the issues were all local in that book in Socio-Economic features, like Marriages, Bad Driving, Muscat Municipality, Public Sector working, Divorces, Omanisation, Management Issues, Message for Teenagers, Advices like How To Apply For A Job etc) – then they would consider stocking the book. More than 200 copies were sent by me as Complimentary Gifts to very senior VIPs and High Profile personalities in the land, but with just a Thank You Note in responses. With some it was dead silence, and not sure if even they had received my book?

Then came the International arena of things, starting with the International Bookshops running in the country. One wanted a copy to read first ‘to clear the book (I thought there was only one official centre for this kind of activity!) He – with due respects Regional Expatriate – took his own time to read the book, and I had to go to his immediate European boss to push it to finally get its approval to be stocked – after a lot of foot dragging and reluctance. I was so happy because this Company stocks their books in International Airports and in International Hotels.

Then one day I was at a course in this International Hotel in Muscat, and I went to their stall ‘to see my book’! It was put just well inside, and one had to ask for the book if one wanted to buy the book, unalike the family run local bookshop that had put my book in a strategic prominent place and for a very long time too. Lack of support and encouragement is still there!

The irony is that this International run Bookshop stock all the titles of books that many others would call as ‘best kept out filth’ for that matter. Or they would feature Authors (foreign) who have ‘photo books’ of local issues like terrain, mountains, birds, animals etc. It seems the local birds etc fare far better than the local Omani National human being writer for that matter – and maybe if you are a believer of reincarnation than to come back as a local bird or animal, rather than an Omani National Author (or at least trying to be one!!) is still far better!.

In my job as a Freelance Human Resources Consultant, I have come across some International firms and their Managers from those countries that have ‘infested twisted vindictive biased and narrow minds’ of Omanis and their competencies, competencies, skills and talents. What makes it all so sad, tragic, sickening and pathetic is ‘just recently created artificial Senior Local Managers there’ agreeing wholeheartedly and giving credence and credibility to such narrow minded assumptions focus and outlooks.

To be honest and sincere here, in some countries even ‘so-called moderate and Western Supporters too’ they would send some of these expatriates back home en masse and even close down their so-called desire to invest here in the country, let alone allow them to still operate under such circumstances – simply because they have local powerful sponsors – who care the least on such issues but how much more money they are going to make – and how much bigger their tummies will be at the end of the day – let alone listen to complaints and accusations from their own local peers and kind!

But that kind of peoples are the minority, but if these are continued to be allowed and be tolerated, could lead to a lot of future troubles and problems ahead – with the new coming in of age youngsters who are lesser docile, tolerant, patient and understanding. It is high time that these issues are handled thoroughly and vigorously.

Personally I do prefer a person who is straight forward forthright and vocal – rather than a person who is quiet, unassuming and pretends to go along, or looks not caring or disinterested – whilst inside him is burning anger, fire, fury and frustration. If he is able to hide and not show these, who knows what he or she may be capable of doing next??

Think on it for a moment! Take Care!

This Too Shall Pass!

Everything in life is temporary…Darkness of the night or brightness of the day. Even sunrise is temporary… And so is sunset. If things are going good – enjoy it… it won’t last forever. And if things are going bad – do not worry – because it won’t last forever either. Everything just passes by (Smile)

I have a Filing system where I put all those good Emails sent to me by others in a file marked To Keep. I tried to find the one sent to me by my sister on This Too Shall Pass – but could not find it. However, I found this one above (a bit similar) that was sent above to me by a very good friend in Philippines after returning home due to family situation and circumstances.

It was sent to me after my business went bust and losing all my life’s savings and for a big project that was scrapped soon afterwards and our competitor doing the job together (International Company) got three times what we got from this big company. They made some profits, but my plane went into a steep dive and went in one piece into the Pacific Ocean like the Air France one!

The one that my sister had sent me was about this king in a certain land that had called all his Advisors together to find a sort of Mission Statement (Vision) for the land – because he had found all his peoples were unhappy and sad – after tragic incidents of storms, tempests, economic downturn, high inflation and costs of living and unemployment of its young peoples – and some of the peoples emigrating to other countries because of all these. He told them – I give you a month to come with a slogan that I can tell my peoples not to lose hope and be brave about their current plights and misfortune. He said to them – I want it to be as short as possible.

After several weeks and the project running late, they came up with this slogan – This Too Shall Pass! They told the king – this will make everybody appreciative and understand – and make them not to lose hope – for now or in the future. It also explains everything they have met and will meet in life – from now on. Initially the king was not convinced – but the more and more he thought about it and the more sense it made.

The slogan was adopted. Fortunately for the rest of us there were no copy or patent rights – and you will no doubt agree with me that the wise men did come out with a very good slogan that will explain most things in our lives now!

So Just Remember – Whatever Crisis etc you are facing in your Life Now (or to face!) ….. THIS TOO SHALL PASS!

Rising Alcoholism Syndrome!

Rising Alcoholism Syndrome!

With the onslaught of the current dire economic situation – this group has now risen sharply and I hear from many people complaining – especially from Families – The Ladies more! – about this stigma in the society now! People go extreme  either this way or extreme fundamentalism routes! There are many black sheep in the families now – Father Drinks – so do The Youngsters – with broken marriages and families! It is a stigma families are reluctant to talk about to Outsiders!

The Original Article Below!

In all my writings, and in My Books, I have tried my level best to move away from writing taboo subjects – but the coming incident confirmed to write on this one – with sincere, genuine and due apologies.

I had been to this Recreation Centre when I saw a group of young Omanis come out from the Alcohol Bulk store with carts full of the stuff – from beers to the real heavy and expensive stuff – because cartons betray what they have inside them! They looked to me as recently joined Graduates to the Company.

So the mean and evil streak in me decided to play a game with them. I asked them if they could spare me a few drinks – and I was willing to pay for them. It was already coming evening Prayer time – so one of the nicer kinder sympathetic ones offered me the address because they were having a bash and celebration from what looked similar to Gonnu to strike our Omani shores! This shocked me to smithereens – the approach to celebrate before the storm struck – instead of going into prayers and reciting our Holy books instead – like some of us in our generation would normally do.

Just for the records, being a member of that club, I too could purchase in bulk if I had wanted – but then I am not ‘developed and progressed enough’ with my sad state of affairs of being a student in UK for three years – still single at that time – and downstairs opposite lane I used to sit and watch those indulging (including pretty young girls too!) making a fool and spectacle of themselves after awhile – and too good and decent a material to bring into my column in this esteemed newspaper! But let us put it this way – I told all to the good wife before our marriage!!

Some years ago when I was travelling to UK for my Management course, the local guy beside me pressed the distress call button just as the plane was taking off from Muscat International airport (we could even see it below us) – and the poor air hostess came running to find what was wrong? Remember The Fasten Your seatbelts sign was on! The man asked for a beer! I do not know if he was afraid to fly – or maybe taking early advantage of the limited free offer of drinks on board as travelling Economy!

The Air Hostess firmly put him in his place – though he kept the button chiming! Then when the warning seat signal was off, he said give me English beer! He mentioned a brand which even dumb and stupid me in ignorance and being backwards as a teetotaller knew was a Dutch brand – and not an English one – as in my job aspects of peers trying to impress our Western bosses that they are progressed and developed! I remember even one peer who joked to me in front of our British boss – he was a Non Believer in God though – and said it when he was even sober to us! My friend peer was teasing me – M – it is time for prayers, what are you doing still waiting here? I have had suckers and yes men in my life – but as our Indian friends say – this one had the biscuit!

I have met many people I know where families are complaining to me to write about this subject – but I am always the type of person who is a Live and Let Live type of person – but to limits – when you start to encroach on me in your superiority false outlooks – and that you know better even for me – then we have issues and problems. So long as you leave me alone, I drink my carbonated and or fresh juices with those at the party enjoying themselves – but at the same time can leave the table and go for my prayers – I am that type of person per se!

A lot of families complain of smoking and alcoholism amongst some of their family members – and sadly and tragically including the teenagers and the youth too. One of the off shots of increased road accidents and fatalities is this stuff! There is also this element of domestic and family violence as a result of alcoholism, resulting in increasing divorces, family breakdowns and social disorders.

Personally, I do not believe in imposing rules and regulations – Believing in Live and Let Live – and have even a blog under such a name! However, as parents and grandparents – and as elders – we do have a prime and fundamental duty to lead by examples – and advice, counsel and caution the youth to protect and preserve our heritage, customs, traditions, values and culture as a people – and the teachings and practices of our religion – and even if to be in moderation when going flexible and accommodating!

I remember this incident very well after my father had expired – and I was receiving condolences in my villa in Qurum. They wanted some juice – and unfortunately I had left only apple juice! Soon after a while, my uncle from the village came to me and started yelling and shouting to me – how could you? And my uncle in Muscat cut him short – and said you must have got your facts twisted and intertwined – because I was accused of offering beer to them! My town uncle said very emphatically and strongly – I do not know about the others, but I can guarantee on my life that this son of Late Said NEVER DRINKS the stuff! That is confidence for you!

Incidentally Happy Birthday me! Take Care!

This is Goodbye Ma Salaamah to My Postings! The End of Majid Al Suleimany!

From today onwards Thursday July 5th 2018 – I have made a solemn promise to myself and to my direct family to keep away and to not to get involved in issues that do not concern directly me or my own direct family members. This after being insulted and smitten in larger family related issues despite being sincere genuine and principled!

I extend the same outlooks and focus also on Societal and larger issues. A promise I made and will now keep permanently till Allah SWT Our God Lord Almighty takes me away from this world! I am a simple human being – not made of Prophethood Stuff!

All I have already said in my books http://www.majidallbooks.com and http://www.majidalsuleimani.com and also in http://www.myownmajid.com – and ex Oman Observer columns for 14 years!

I have suffered a lot in my life by being frank open honest with sincerity genuineness and principles in life to extreme levels of suffering including losing my legality medical and topping off with psychiatric treatment per se. Forgetting my bruised hurting redness head hitting it against brick walls.

And people wanting me to shut up push the dirt under the carpet and as in Arabic why wash our dirty linen in public!

If the ship is set and designated to sink anyway like in the Titanic as it hits icebergs on its way or otherwise – just let the ship sink! Nothing can save it – however, one has tried!

I know well that nobody cares – but one day people will remember all the things that I have said – and hopefully will not be around to say – again and again as I did – I TOLD YOU SO!!!

The Old Guards and The Mafias have won – once again!

This is my last posting in The Social Media and even on personal issues like photos birthdays social occasions etc.

Goodbye and Maa Salaamah.

About Mafia Island!

If you have read my articles – When The Storms Came In – This Glass Is Bent – see here and in my book Between Us Only (Are You Afraid? – you will recall that though I was born in Zanzibar our Al Suleimany family grew up in these Islands of Mafia (a.k.a. Chole).

Some of our direct relatives (Al Suleimany mainly), are still living there. Mafia was part of The Zanzibar Sultanate, but was annexed by the Germans to be part of Tanganyika then.

It is common knowledge that in East Africa – like many countries of the world today, you need reliable trusting people with local knowledge and talents – for one to conduct and mediate in business ventures and investments.

The peoples of Mafia are 95% Muslims, conservative and religious – but simple and accepting peoples. The locals speak a Swahili very near found in Pemba Island in Zanzibar, even the vegetation and environment looks like that in Zanzibar, mainly coconuts, mango trees, cashew nuts, beaches etc. There are no cloves in Mafia.

Mafia is famous for fishing and scuba diving, with peoples coming from all over the globe. It lies between the great sea faring lanes of great ships passing between it and the Capital City of Dar es Salaam. It has sweet fresh water like that found in Zanzibar. There are good tourist hotels and resorts that charge even over 250 US Dollars a night.

See Mafia Websites below.

Mafia Island has high potential for investment and in tourism with its uninhibited beaches and sites, but it needs a lot of infrastructure development especially in The Services and Tourism Sector – example good restaurants, shops, petrol stations, transport, airlines, etc.

Gonnu Rewind 3 – The Wakeup Call! Reply

Continuing from the same theme of last week of GONNU Storms – ‘When The Storms Came In!’ and ‘The Aftermath’ of last three weeks…..(sent from Zanzibar Tanzania whilst on leave there – if you want copies, please let me know!)

As had appeared in The Oman Daily Observer of Wednesday June 27, 2007

BETWEEN US ONLY!

The Wake Up Call!

My cynical sceptical friend had read my article last week, and was all comments. He called me and asked me if I had returned from my leave, if I were feeling any guilty and remorse in leaving my family behind, and as he put it ‘missing all the fun and action part?’ I asked him how he could define it as ‘fun’, and he retorted that in a way, it was, but one had to look in deep to find out. I did not want to delve in details, so I had just left it at that – at least for now. I may want to take it up with him at a more convenient and opportune moment in the future.

Then he shocked me – he said to me – you know M? This is a wake up call. We really need to soul-search and self-analyse what we are doing wrong, unfair and unethical for such things to happen to us after decades of quiet, peace and self-preservation. There is something very wrong that we have done or still doing to get the wrath and anger of nature to fall on us like this – and this had never happened before.

So I retorted back fast. Come on, you are putting too much on this thing. This is a result of our own actions of not taking care of nature, and as a result of global warming and climate change. We are not alone in this, the whole of the rest of the world are in the same circuits and scenarios. No, no – he insisted – you got it all wrong. That could be true too – but it is not that alone.

There are so many things wrong and unethical we do to each other, liking being cruel and mean to each other. We favour those we like, and discriminate and disfavour those we do not like, though we are all one as one family, but we do not see that way. He went on – we trample on rights and dues of others simply because we do not like them, or what they represent. We have become mean, greedy, and materialistic and have forgotten our Lord and the teachings of the Great Prophet (PBUH). In our homes are orphans who are treated as young houseboys and housemaids, instead as being our own children.

Rights and privileges are revoked at a press of a button. There are pensioners who cannot get a Baizas out of their pensions – because they had taken loans before they were ‘forced’ to go on retirement, and their new salary are not even enough to pay off the monthly loan installments.

How do you expect these peoples to live? On water alone? Even that water has to be paid for, and if you do not pay in time will be mercilessly be disconnected, baby in house or not! He went on – if you are poor and weak, the full force of the law will be applied to you, but if you are rich and famous, all mercies and exceptions can be expected – even if you are in a better position to pay off loans taken and when you had gone broke and bust. The Banks after making so much profits, will make all the compassion and exceptions for the rich and famous, even if they could still pay. But if you are weak and unknown, the full force of the laws will be applied to you without any exception mercy or compassion.

You may be a local professional and experienced person and have fallen on hard and difficult times, but no job offer will be made to you because of ‘your age’ – though there are much much older expatriates professionals and consultants still working there in high and famous places. What do you do – he asked me – if you cannot get work as a professional person and your salary has been frozen by the Banks with orders from high up with no mercy and compassion? Beg, borrow or steal? Think about it, M – he implored. I am thinking – I retorted – I am thinking.

Then he went on – when such poor peoples cry out in vain, pain and hurt and there is nobody – simply nobody – and they cry out to our Lord – what do you think will happen next? Or we have fully been involved or participated in bringing calamities and disasters to others – do you think the Lord will spare us?? There are so much cries of despair, anger and hurt. That is true and definite. And yet we hear it is still not over, there are still more dangers and impending disasters to come!

We forget the teachings of our Religion. We act as if we cannot fall dead at any moment and be held accountable for all our sins committed by our actions and or inactions. We think we shall live forever and nothing will touch or reach us, and then we see how very wrong we are. We have now seen how it is to live without shelter, water and food. We have seen that in TV News in other countries, but we thought these would never happen to us. We have been proved wrong, this time and maybe more times in the future too. What do we know can or will happen next to us? Do we know on such things?

The poor man who worked plus 25 years and cannot touch a Baiza of his pensionable salary, whilst the Banks and all that goes with it get richer and richer with more profits and they still threatening and harming those poor and weak ones more only who have fallen on bad times and cannot pay even if they had wanted to? Or in the past had paid regularly, but now cannot continue to do so on falling on bad times and conditions beyond their control?

They want now to work, but are denied the chance and opportunity – though they are our very own? Or we give chances and opportunities to those we like, even if they do not deserve such or are not capable to do what is required to be done – and deny those who are capable and can just because we do not like them and discriminate against them for who they are more than anything else?? Think on it M! Please think!

I am thinking – I am thinking – I cried out. At least let me say it to all others too. UI hope they read, listen and hear. I hope we self analyse ourselves. I hope we soul-search ourselves. Until the next round, all I can do is pray and hope. Trust me. I hear you very well my good friend…… Take Care. Allah Protect and Preserve us all – Amin Amen

The Aftermath!

(Or This Too Shall Pass!)

Continuing from the same theme of last week of ‘When The Storms Came In!’ – Gonnu hit Oman on June 6th 2010.

My cynical skeptical friend had always insisted in the past to get a copy of my articles in my column. In actual fact, I remember at one time when I was just writing that he had wanted me to send to him my articles before they were published in my column every Wednesday! This I categorically and affirmatively refused to entertain! I asked him why he wanted to do this, he just replied ‘so I can give you my personal frank and honest views and feedbacks before you send in the article formally’! So I told him a straight NO, unless you are working for the esteemed paper in ‘private position’.

This seemed to work and rub him badly, and I could see he was desperately struggling to remain courteous and polite to me and in questioning my sanity and integrity in asking me such a question to him! So we agreed in default for me to send him my article, though I did rub it in too by the mere fact that he could afford to buy the paper at least on a Wednesday. Then he retorted to me – I am forwarding these articles of yours to prominent and high profile personalities and actually I am doing a great honour and privilege to you – sad you do not realize it! I did not know how but as I did not want to delve into details, I decided it was better to go quiet and just leave it at that!

Normally my good friend never comments on my articles – unless as he cynically and sarcastically said to me (I seem to have this great affect on him, I do not know why?) – he said to me – unless I have something to comment – either good positive or just bad negative! If I have nothing to send in it means that your articles are ‘just that okay or as normal your stuff’. A reliable friend of mine tells him that person is actually all praises and complimentary for your articles – but that is beyond your earshot. He says ding thinks if you ‘hear the praises, it will go into your head, and it will spoil things’. Or as he says complimenting the Chef too much, and then he looses his touch and all the praised dishes come out all wrong in one form or the other!

So last week being still away from the country and with limited access to the Internet, I was doubly surprised to find his irate and aggressive note that I had missed sending him my article ‘When The Storms Came In’! He got a copy forwarded to him from someone else, and that seemed to anger and annoy him the more. The more he said because the article was very good, and it did a great deed in consoling and comforting those who were adversely affected by the storm! As he was ‘one of the victims’, he wanted to know direct and straight from me why I had missed him out in the circulation list. Actually, I had deleted many from this list, including some still unconvinced adversaries amongst friends and relatives. He had thought that he was now in the shortened list – and this seemed to work him up all the more!

I usually give my good reliable friend a day or two to cool down, and when I send him my replies he seems to be more receptive and positive. But this time this too had failed, where in the past it had worked out somehow and eventually. So I sent him my answers to his questions and queries with what he said Readers might want to know (or his excuse for him wanting to know?). So I did the necessary thing, and sending him the answers!

* * *

Out of the two brothers’ graves, one was marked out and well maintained – with an inscription of the death the poor man had died. His late son and my late father had told me – my father had died in hospital, I think I will go the same way. And he did! I thought it was running in the family when it was my turn to be admitted in the hospital, but it seemed this time I was let go free, perhaps till another time? The other grave was all shrubs, the farm where the grave was had been sold off to a local, and he did not care about a graveyard that did not belong to him, especially from Arabs from another land!

So I had asked the new owners if they would not mind me paying for the place to look decent, and they had replied affirmatively to go ahead and do this! This was the other brother who did not want to stay in the smaller barren island, but as fate and destiny would have it, it was the same place that both had been buried and the first place they had both seen first after leaving the shores of Quriyaat (Hail Al Ghaaf) in Oman.

My friend wanted to know if I had a premonition of disaster, and what he was reading between the lines in my articles – especially the few weeks before the storms and all the rumours circulating at the time on the in-coming dangers, and peoples had just written them off – only to come true in another format? I assured him I was as naïve and ignorant as he probably was! But I must admit that the visits and prayers at the ancestral burial grounds and the next day having a very bad dream of my angry ancestors that ‘we forgot them here’ did shake me up badly due to their coincidences, if nothing else. Peoples who left their country in dark days of history to look for a better life else where, and to be buried and forgotten in foreign lands, and reversal of history with the enlightment and renaissance for their offsprings to return to the Motherland with the heeding of the call to return.

History had made its mark with all that went good and bad with it. Together with fate and destiny that went along with it. It was all and still our duty to realize and remember, as we pass it on to our children and grandchildren – and great grandchildren to generations to come. It is our duty to keep them informed, and to preserve our beloved nation in its great history. Its heritage, culture, customs and traditions and to preserve all these, whilst we move forward in the global village with all its modernity and advancement – and we copy and emulate only those parts that are good and decent and avoid all others not needed and unnecessary!

This for the benefit of the nation and the future generations. For the storms now – This too shall pass and as time is a great healer! Allah Protect and Preserve us all – Amin (Amen).

Gonnu Rewind 1 – When The Storms Came In! Reply

GONNU – REWIND ONE!

BETWEEN US ONLY!

When The Storms Came In!

June 6, 2007.

At a certain time, it comes to all of us in our lives when you just have to be brave and courageous and in doing the right thing to accept the outcome and your fate!

And to count your blessings on the greater things that you still have with you – like your own saved lives and your continued health and fitness, and the will and determination to survive and still succeed. That is more important than material things lost and destroyed, by the fury and wrath on nature falling upon us. Instead of pondering on how much wastage has occurred and the need now, to buy new material things like New Television sets and other needed replacement equipment etc.

It may be difficult for some of us to accept these things now because of the denial effect that some of us may be still experiencing now.

But in life one has not to look at your own situation only in isolation, but those others too whom you have left behind, like those families who lost loved ones too in the disaster in addition to material losses. Of course it is not compensation, solace and consolation either – but the truth remains paramount and revealing that you may be in a bad situation, but certainly there are others worse off than you – for example misplaced and without a home and shelter, or food and water too.

The beauty of human beings is that we can all come together as one close knit family when disaster strikes, and to make us soul-search and self analyse ourselves. We may have been watching Television and films, and read newspapers of disasters that have been affecting other peoples without a twinge of feelings and remorse, and thinking that these things will never reach us because we are ‘far away and immune, and protected’ from such things in life. Then we realize that these things too can happen to us, and that makes us all care and feel for each other as one Global Family. As they say, one cannot realize the value of food until the time you have experienced hunger and famine. Similarly, water until you has experienced pangs of thirst and want! Then you appreciate what is water and what is food. And what is warmth and shelter! And what the lack of is all about!
* * *
The small single engined Cessna planned tossed and turned as the strong winds and rain hit it. It was flying quite low for convenience and comfort, maybe more to escape the thrust and force of the wind and storm than anything else was. It was usual for such a situation for the pilot to push the plane above the thundering storm wet clouds but perhaps the pilot it was better to fly it at low attitudes for a better reason too. After all the Pilot knows best in such things than the rest of us, and it is best to leave things to such experts and competent professionals. What do the rest of us know than just to be carried on board as passengers?

The pilot before taking casually remarked on the safety features of the small plane. He was so used and fed up talking to passengers who kept talking to themselves rather than listening to the pilot. As usual when a real emergency would occur, there would be panic and crisis in the air, and hopefully peoples would know what to do then? He kept urging the passenger to move forward to concentrate on sitting on the front seats, instead of staying at the tail.

He again insisted – it is for your own safety and in order to balance the plane. Everybody looked at each other; there were no takers to move forward. He looked at me – maybe I was a more agreeable figure or he liked to see the heavier one passenger move forward. I had no way of knowing, and I did not want to be disagreeable anyway. So I moved to the seat next to him, where the co-pilot would normally sit. But he showed me the seat behind him, that seat is to be left vacant if the co-pilot was not to fly.
I remembered those films when the single pilot of the plane got a heart attack, and slumped on the controls.

There was no Air Hostess on board who like in the other films could be guided from the control tower to land the jet. Do not worry, the coach would say. This plane can land itself if need be! Or what would happen if the single propeller engine cocked out? I asked the pilot in my younger days when I was still flying in the same route, but now age and maturity has set in and you do not fret and worry about such things. If it happens it happens, there is nothing you can do about such things. You just have to accept your outcome and fate – that is all! It is not a question of being fatalistic; it is more of being sensible and reasonable.

Than the person behind you asks – Are you from these parts, or are you a visitor? So you tell him. Then he guesses – Are you from Muscat in Oman? You reply affirmatively. You ask how did you guess? He replies – because this island has many peoples who left to return to Oman, though there are many families still that have been left or stayed behind. Then he tells you something you know already. You just nod in agreement. Yes, the Omani Arabs had named the island as She-Island-With-Nothing or She-barren-island.

It was recorded in History too. They called it Mafia Island, about 100 miles from the City of Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania. The Germans – the first occupiers Colonial Power had annexed it away from the Zanzibar Islands, the ex Sultan dynasty and the British next in line Colonial Power did not raise an issue. Forgot its barren island capacity? Besides the Germans did not like the name of Mafia, it perhaps reminded them of something more uglier nearer at home in Italy, the Mafia Clan.

So they mapped and called it by the name of an island quite near the place. The locals kept calling it by the same name of Chole, but history had recorded it by the name the disinterested Omanis gave it. The rest was history. Mafia Island to this day.

History too was the fight between the two brothers on the boat from Oman. The Elder brother wanted to land and settle there, the younger one tried to discourage him at best and failed miserably. His mind was made up. He wanted to start his life at this barren island, not the bigger islands or Coastal places the majority of the Omani Arabs were settling.

There are pioneers and volunteers all over history records, and the big brother had made his decision. This is the place he wanted. Years later, he too brought his son from Oman with his first wife and son and daughter. The two brothers were still not talking to each other. It took the marriage of their children first cousins to seal the difference and partnership. 2 years later the only married at 16 mother gave birth to her first son – and the Author of this column. That is history for you!

The man behind then told him of the storms and winds in Oman. Before that, he thought it was all rumours. So the bad news was really true? The man said he saw it all in the beamed dish of Oman TV too at the hotel. The Author called home, all the Mobiles and GSM were not working. He felt bad and guilty he had left the place to come on a Holiday, and the storms and winds striked later when he was not at home. His conscience pricked him. He will try to call again later……. Allah Preserve and Protect us all – Amin.

The Joy of   Being Happy!

What is being happy is all about?

April 17, 2018

The other day I was complaining bitterly about my Mobile Phone that I needed now to charge it almost two to three times a day! Overheard by my daughter – she suggested to have the phone battery changed – as it was a very old model Samsung Note 4 – it was struggling hard to keep up with the latest versions, media and technology!

Then the miracle came into being – after just a mirage in the horizon! My daughter bought for me the latest Samsung S9 Plus! An old PDO Retiree Pensioner has never been so much happier – albeit so many upsets and downs recently for even wanting basic things in life – which are available to many others – or at least should be available – but then everybody wants to show off their powers and control elements on others – as has been the life that we are facing nowadays!

When I was studying in UK in the 1970s I got my UK Driving License and instead of using the efficient reliable public transport services – I wanted to climb the social ladder me too! Why be left out in the ‘rat race’? So I looked around for an affordable old banger of a car! I found one Morris 1300 belonging to an old lady!

She wanted Sterling Pounds 200 for it (about Omani Rials 120 I think!). The car was a Morris 1300 – see the image! Seeing me hesitating – she came down to Pounds 150. She was so happy – poor lady – when I said I will take it! She admitted to me that she originally had wanted 250 Pounds – but was afraid it would have put me off! Yes I know the left hand should not know what the right hand was giving! So I gave her what she originally wanted – and was she much happier after that!

It was a very old British car powerful and strong. Proved its mantle when one day I hit the house gates with just a minor scratch! Typical Quality British car! But one funny anecdote was if you were reversing you needed to pull a knob at the dashboard for reverse light to come on! Many times I was reprimanded by The British Traffic by driving with the reverse knob still on and not pushed back!

Images For Demonstration Purposes only!  From the first car Morris 1300   to Toyota Crown to my last one the Yukon GMC Truck!

When I started working in PDO as Senior Staff I bought at the time a Toyota Crown – see image! If you had asked me – I would have told you the Morris 1300 had made me so much happier than buying the luxury Toyota Crown! And even lesser happier than later cars I bought later in life – much more expensive and luxurious – including the famous Yukon GMC Truck case story lately!

When I was working in HR in one of the companies – the American CEO told me – Majid I want you to make the Staff feel happy to come to work and not that the only reason that they come to work is to take care of their families and pay off bills! I want that to be a priority in your HR Tasks and Targets – and portfolio! The other day I met one of the Staff – and she told me – Mr. Majid – we still remember you by your ordering vegetarian food – and keeping it separate from the rest of the food! Our own HR Director before – a non-practicing person never ever even bothered! It made a lump in my mouth!

You would think the riche folks are happier than us the rest of us – but they are not! Some of them spend the whole night pacing up and down – scared stiff that they may loose and become poor! I read this article of what looked like a poor shepherd – but the local man – after he had died – had so much money hidden in the shed – lucky for him the goats did not find them and ate them – as they are well known to chew even cardboard boxes! What is the point of having so much money hidden and being so miserly in life – just to have the feeling and power of owning money and riches?

You find in life so many people still smiling and happy faces despite so many issues and problems! They are struggling hard in life to survive and manage with the little they have but you will find them still cheerful jovial and happy! Then there is that lots of like us where small issues and problems are blown out of proportions – with some not really major issues that are facing them in life!

I know this from my relatives in Tanzania – by a far wider margin and level they are much happier! I remember this ugly incident when one of the relatives fired back at me when I asked her why she cooked so much food in the lunch times and letting others local partake the food! Far lesser incomes and levels than them as their contributions to solve the hunger issues! She was shocked by my outlook that she was struggling still in life – but was ready and willing to share whatever they had with the others lesser fortune! An awakening up call to the rest of us – considering ourselves more fortunate!

We were building a Masjid Mosque in Mafia Island in Tanzania and this sort of rich friend called me – I have got very good news for you! Come to the Office to collect! I was so excited and thrilled when he gave me the envelope! Afraid till I reached home I opened it to find OMR 20 inside after all the excitements! Mind you whatever contribution should be accepted and acknowledged – but from this rich person (happier person?) I was expecting much more!

How many of us have richer family and friends but when you are in trouble they will not raise a finger to help you – even if you are in extreme dire straits! Do not tell me – I have been there – and still there – but no one will help you by their stinginess bad hearts and lack of care and feelings for anyone even family but just want to check daily their Bank Accounts balances! Comes here the famous King Alexander Last Words (you can google it!)

I remember the case alsowhen I was collecting funds to make a farewell party for one British Staff leaving PDO after many years of services! This was an Expatriate who stood and fought for ‘Omani issues and cases’ well beyond the call of duty! It was agreed that for the Junior Staff they should contribute OMR 5 – and for the Senior Staff like us – OMR 10!

When I went to my Director he told me – take OMR 5 and ‘get out of my office – I do not want to see your ugly face here’ – how locals can be cruel and cutting to each other is totally another issue! With much more received income plus Company car and accommodation – he should have been more generous – but he was not! He retorted to me – I am not paying anyone more than 5 Rials for anyone leaving the company – whether local or expatriate! Who will pay for me when I leave? – were his words!

Yet at the same time there were more Junior Staff levels who were paying much more! Happier people? In Swahili they say – Kutoa ni moyo! The giving is from the heart! Not being rich or poor! There is also Kuchonga Uso! Carving your face! That is when ou go to ask for help fro richer peope (happier people supposed to be!0 – and they let you down badly! They will not even answer your phone – and ignore you if they see you outside! AL HAMDU LILLAH!

They say if you can eat at least once a day, have a roof over your head and have shelter and security you should remain and be happy always! Our Late Father – PBUH – used to tell us – Just do not compare and contrast with those ahead of you – but look at so many that are behind you in lots in life! He was drawing of when going to Dubai from Muscat – look at those still in Rustaq compared to yourself already in Sohar – be whatever car that you are driving!

Some students had approached the President then of one Third World Country that they were going to school without shoes! So he asked them to follow him! They all thought they were getting shoes – and he led them to a Leper Colony where people really wished they had feet – let alone shoes! This highly charged emotional film demonstrates well the point! A Short Film – The Other Pair! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkWdyZFyvO8

I hope you had enjoyed the article! If you did ask The CEO Oman Daily Observer why they killed off The Columns – Between Us Only! On a Technicality!

The question still remains – Are you happy? Think again before you answer!

When Death Just Calls! Late Mohamed Saif Al Jabri! Reply

When Death Just Calls!

August 31, 2017

This week there have been 3 deaths of Omani Retirees and Pensioners – 2 from ex PDO Petroleum Development Oman – and 1 from ex Central Bank/BankMuscat! The first one as I wrote about here – https://majidall.com/2017/08/15/obituary-biography-late-sheikh-salim-mohamed-al-maawali-mauly/

See Photo Below!

I do not know about you but for me when I hear of someone I know has died is to go on an overdrive view of looking at that person and interfacing and interacting with me – or what they call as ‘Helicopter’ view of looking the person from above and what he or she has been to me in my life!

Many a times I come to Acceptance level of knowing someone I know has now died – and will no longer be with us anymore! I come to Acceptance Terms as I will have to Forgive him and what he has done to me – or not done to me despite my desperate appeals and requests which went ignored and unheeded – whilst he looked the other way – or pretended not to hear or see me – looking the other way! The worst kind are those who will add ‘salt to the wound’ by passing crude rude inept remarks about you ‘as why he is ignoring you’ – even sometimes right into your own face! So you get hurt both by the rejection and the unneeded words to you in addition!

Then there are few who will actually come out to help as best as they can or offer good kind words in advices and counsels – and even material help and prayers for you! There are also the few who have made your life a misery by all the time conspiring and scheming plots against you personally in your career and work life – and are always negative injurious to you in front of others! Sometimes even with earshot!

Last Photo Mohamed Saif Al Jabri – PDO

Mohamed Saif Al Jabri

He was more a friend to my brother Mohamed though we worked in the same Department until I opted for Early Retirement! He was always joking teasing type of person – always laughing! Sometimes he laughed more on his own jokes than anybody else!

Like in most peers we had our differences and one thing he told me stuck to me till now – that you cannot go in business because you Majid are a nice trying to please help others – and in business you had to be crooked and cruel hard with no ‘mercy or compassion’! This when we were discussing going into business in Import Export from Tanzania – and you needed to be ready to ‘give in bribery and corruption’- and in PDO you are well known by The Mafias then THAT MR. CLEAN!

Here is to you Brother Mohamed! Allah Rest your soul in Eternal Peace in this world and The Next Ameen – and May Allah SWT Open The Gates for Firdaus The Highest Heavens for you! You are a person who cared not only for  your friends but almost everyone!

I will always remember you for stopping me taking My Full PDO Pension but opt instead for lump sum and Monthly Pension! As per your advice on business by me – today I would not have survived in this world and life without my PDO Pension – though it is like just a snack to me now but people with big trays of Biriyani also want to take and eat my sandwich also!

Sometimes I would advise him not to do certain errors of judgement – but he would be defensive and angry – but the good thing about him was he would later relent and come back to show his objectivity by saying only friends can advise you even if you are angry with them!

Humanity, Kindness and Care – Key Words for Late Mohamed! RIP! Plus Laughter and Smiles!

Addressing this also to my ex Peers and all others – I ask Forgiveness for The Past and let us look and pray for each other for whatever is left now in our lives! You have taken my Yukon I used only 2 years – and still paying – but leaving that to Allah SWT when we meet together and in My Presentation of My Case to Allah SWT!

And to those that could have helped me but chose not to lift a finger and look the other way – May Allah SWT and His Prophets RIP PBUT be with you – Amin Amen!

You will find all about the above here at www.majidall.com

Death! What I Had Said Before!! Generally Speaking!

In all my writings and books I have said the same things – that this world is only a temporary phase in our lives – in the end we will all just die! People will only remember you by your good deeds and the way that you interfaced and interacted with each other!

If you were a good person or not are your actions and deeds for others – and your good behaviours and deeds only! People will either feel sorry that you are gone and pray for you – or be indifferent at best – if not cursing you instead and praying for Eternal Hell Fire for you from the moment that you are dropped into your grave – and The Eternal Hell Fire from there on to The Day of Reckoning (Judgement)! Some people find it hard to forgive – especially blatant injustices and crimes committed against others – especially from those who relied and trusted you in the first instance!

Sometimes even if people wish to forgive and forget it will take them a long time and efforts to do so because of the volume and largeness of the Injustices Dhuloom done to others! You will go empty handed as you came into this world – and you will not be able to take anything with you! All your richness and properties you will just leave behind! All the pursuits we have in life for richness and luxuries will end the minute you die! What is left are what good deeds only that you have made in life! All those things you have appropriated taken from others by your ways and threats will be The Hell Fire for you in front of Allah SWT Our Lord God The Al Mighty!

The East Africans continuously say  – Where there is Dhuloom (Injustices) Allah Removes all Blessings Barkah Rahmah and Taqwa – especially in taking by force from a person who has nothing left in life – but even that car you are still paying installments for is snatched from you to pay a Bank instead who have money already! And all Those Big People VIPs and Associated you begged and appealed for Help and Assistance – The Chairmans – The MDs – The GMs – The HEs – The HHs The Directors The Leadership looked the other way not caring or bothered the least!

“Panapo Dhulmah Daamu Ina Mwagiika” – Where there is Injustices Dhuloom blood eventually flows in Swahili – and proved correct so many times in life! The Reality Bites! People need to realise and appreciate their responsibilities much more with ethics, principles and professionalism! Remember that there is punishment on earth for you – in the grave in your funeral and on The Day of Reckoning!

Try to change now – before it is too late for you! We are living on borrowed time – whilst at any minute it can be snatched from you abruptly with little or no notice at all!

Obituary Bibliography – Late Sheikh Salim Mohamed Al (Maawali) Mauly

Born 80 years ago as on the Birthday 7th December 2016 – DOB 1936 December 7th (Ammended)

Died August 14, 2017

Happy Birthday Sheikh Majid, I wish you all the best and may we celebrate many many more birthdays to come In Shaa Allah – Late Sheikh Salim Mohamed Al Mauly to me on my 69th Birthday June 7th 2017

My Facebook Friend! (He was very active! Always encouraging and supportive!)

Introduction

I was arguing with Big Madam of The House (BMTH) that I have to force myself to go to the funeral in Al Hail Seeb Masjid Bilaal today August 15, 2017 at 10 a.m. of my friend and brother Sheikh Salim Mohamed Al Mauly (Maawali)! She told me rather forcefully – Do not blame anyone else but yourself if you will again fall down – and then cause panic to others to send you to the Hospital!

I have never gone to funerals since the last time that this had happened to me 18 months back! Besides, I do not feel that comfortable to now drive alone – and even if I did – I do not have my Yukon GMC anymore as being taken by the said Court!

You have acute walking difficulties and breathing problems (short breath) on top of being diabetic acute case and in addition to prostate issues – despite the operation made last year! So I stood for sanity and reasons and let my head rule my heart’s emotions for a change!

What I Had Said!

You will go empty handed as you came into the world – and you will not be able to take anything with you!

Late Salim Mohamed Al (Maawali) Mauly

It was 11.30 pm August 14th 2017 Monday that I got this SMS from a very good friend and brother from ex PDO – Brother Ali Al Mandhry – on the death of Sheikh Salim Al Mauly!

****

انا لله وانا اليه راجعون

With great sorrow I would like to inform you that our elder brother Sh. Salim Mohamed Mauly, Ex PDO Head of Public Health, the brother of Yahya Mauly has passed away. May Allah rest his soul in Janat Firdaus.

Sheikh Salim (Red Turban) With Ali Mandhry!

The funeral will be tomorrow morning Tuesday, 15/8/2017 at 10.00’am at Masjid Bilal, Al Hail North (Shamaliya).

Note; On behalf of Brother Yahya and his sons I am sending this message.

 Ali Said Al-Mandhry

 ****

Sheikh Salim and I were the best of friends! He was like an Elder Brother to me respected and adhered by us all in PDO and those who knew him! His words were gentle cautionary and advisory – and would best avoid saying anything confronting bad or adverse about anyone – even if he was alone in the crowd and refusing to criticize and condemn anyone! In actual fact he would try to bring outside the norm or character of something or someone that perhaps we forgot to have a look at – or we needed to look at!

Gentle and unassuming – quiet and respectful – especially to his Staff and Subordinates! He would even try to bend the rules and regulations in helping someone! Especially in need and in trouble! He avoided like hell differentials and polarisation of people – and sometimes even name and shame those of us in HR who should have known better!

At one time I was in a group of people where with my big mouth I was criticising him a certain individual as is The Person who caused The Bloody Zanzibar Revolution. After the group end thing he would sidle to me and politely correct my mistaken knowledge and theories – in actual fact gently reminding me that there was one person there ‘who was the Direct Relative’ of the person I was attacking – and gently remind me that the person had respected me and had remained so quiet instead of personal attacks in defence of his relative as he did to others! The man respects you – so please respect him also instead! That was Sheikh Salim for you!

A typical case that best describes Sheikh Salim is this incident in PDO! Those of us in HR had a Duty Rota for a week where we were responsible for Emergencies and Other Issues after Office Hours – 4 pm each day till next starting day at 7am. The Rota was like this. If the Duty Officer was not available then you move to the next week Duty Week Officer. That was to safeguard the system – and in case of Real Big Emergencies more Officers could be called depending on The Emergencies at task!

It was not my Duty that week but I got a call from an Irate Expatriate Wife (British) that by accident she had reversed her car and had hit her puppy dog! I am writing this also so the present Management PDO can compare and contrast how the Ex Retired Pensioners did their works in comparison to the present – no complaints and beyond the Call for Duty! Far and Beyond! Without complaints! Professional, Ethical and Principled always! With no publicity nor advertisements!

She was very angry that The Duty Officer had bluntly told her – he comes from the current stock type of Staff – work like the book thrown at them – I am not responsible for animals – certainly not knocked down dogs! This is not in my Job Description to look after dogs too!  She was enraged mad more that the man was laughing when she had told him – can you hear the dog in pain – as she was talking to him on the phone!

The man was also cursing why the lady had woken him up at 2 am for a Silly Thing like knocking down a dog! By her own carelessness – even if in those days cars still did not have reverse lights cameras! But what she was More Angry about was this Duty Officer suggesting to her to Go Forward and run down to (finish) to kill it off! How could he tell me this? – she yelled!

She was so offended and had made a case about it later to PDO Management – but it put them into a Sensitive Mode because how do you penalize someone Omani who refuses to get involved in ‘Dog Issues’ knowing how Muslims (Arabs) treat dogs – or at least a majority of them!

Meanwhile, the Lady had complained to The Manager on Duty – who suggested to contact me instead as my role was for next week! Wait a minute! It is not about me – but about Sheikh Salim! He told me that even Medical Department PDO did not have a Vet – so the lady had to find someone else outside! She had tried and failed!

Sheikh Salim had volunteered to help anyway and as it was weekend night it was not easy to get someone. Sheikh Salim had found a Vet and took him to the house and sent the poor puppy still yapping into a ‘quiet sleep mode’! Sheikh Salim and I then received an apology from the Crying Now Lady who had labelled all of us (Omanis) ‘You people’ as cruel and heartless people – because of the way she got treated by The Earlier Officer (Omani also!)

That is Sheikh Salim for you! He did not need to find a Vet late at night – nor take the Vet to The Ladies house – and wait till the puppy had peacefully died. I hope The Senior Management of PDO are reading this – to compare and contrast what you had before – and you are having now!

Frankly, I do not have the knowledge of what can be done now in such typical cases – but my guess is probably nothing has changed much! Maybe even The Lady may not call at all – because she knows well in advance what she will get in turn! Dog or No Dog! Injured or Not Injured!

Here is to you Sheikh Salim! Allah Rest your soul in Eternal Peace in this world and The Next Ameen – and May Allah SWT Open The Gates for Firdaus The Highest Heavens for you! You are a person who cared not only for Humanity – but also for a distressed woman even if the issue was not your business – but you cared for even The Suffering Dog also.

Sheikh Salim with Ali Mandhry and Grandson

Sincerely

 Majid Said Nasser Al Suleimany

Being in a Coma State in ICU EER! 1

Being in a Coma State in ICU (EER)!

How It Feels!

A Personal Message to you if anyone of your Your Family is in ICU EER Coma State in Hospital! Do not surrender – Do Not Give Up!

I was in a Coma State in ICU Royal Hospital from December 2015 to January 2016. During this time unknown to me this HSBC Oman Bank had put a case against me for my Management Consultancy that had collapsed then 17 years ago!

Nobody had approached or had contacted me and I only found out when I had sent my Yukon GMC MW 2356 for Renewal Mulkiya Registration in May 2016! The Full Story is here at

The Full Story of the Collapse of My MMDC Management Consultancy!

 August 5, 2017

 https://majidall.com/2017/07/15/the-full-story-of-the-collapse-of-my-mmdc-consultancy/

After I had come out of the Coma State ICU I was invalid and could only sit and sleep on the bed! I could not walk at all! I was in a wheel chair for more than 2 months. After that for 1 month using the walking frame only!  I was being bathed and being washed like an infant – and if you know me it was not an easy task being large built and overweight.

And being put on pampers like a baby – which was the most hurtful and painful thing happening in my life then!

Al Hamdu Lillah I had a caring and loving wife and family who took care and looked after me!

The Doctors had told my family that out of 10 people in ICU only 2 out of 10 \can walk out from an ICU Coma State – and your Majid is NOT in that list!

It is better to prepare for the worst!

Everything inside me in my internal organs were shutting down one by one and they said as it was reaching down to critical low levels to ‘start thinking of switching off’! The Family were solid in refusing to think on this – and as my wife Safiya (Rashda) was convinced I will get up from the bed!

This is the message I want to give you! In the Coma State the mind wanders on its own! See here the stories linked to my being in Coma State!

 https://myshorttakes.com/2016/02/23/the-prophet-dream-or-was-it-just-coma-related/

 https://myshorttakes.com/2016/02/09/the-crying-lady/

The message and theme is ONLY ALLAH God Almighty Our Lord Knows when it is your time to meet Him! In my case I was still not wanted and given a ‘Grace Recovery’ period to change and adjust my life! Opposite was the country I was so loyal and committed to had put me in No Civil Status (Blacklist) after sacrificing my Life and Career to fight for The Omani Youth in Training, Development, Recruitment, Omanisation etc.!

I left PDO in Low Job Group whilst my peers ended even in being my bosses too!

Al Hamdu Lillah! Hasbiya Allah Wa Naymat Wa Kyll!

The Doctors were mystified I came out alive and well – and could even joke and tease! They thought I was a Goner! One Doctor told me – go now and apologise to all whom you have upset annoyed before! Start a New Page (Life) – you came almost to be ‘buried alive’ because of the deteriorating medical condition! Like they put on the ground before lifting you to put in the ground – and then you are awoke!

The Message I want to give to Those Facing Family Member in ICU EER Coma State – Do Not Give Up! Miracles are there under Allah’s Will! Trust and Have Faith in Allah SWT Only!

Best wishes and regards,

Majid Al Suleimany

An Open Letter To The Omani Youth! From The Archives! Reply

 Dear All & After Compliments;

February 28th 2011 – The Original Post!

You will forgive me in reminding you a bit about myself but for those who know me well will vouch for me that I have always stood up to face my Management Teams in whichever company that I had worked for as a Human Resources Professional, Consultant, Expert and Advisor to push for Omanisation, Omani Recruitment and for Training and Development. I had never bothered that it may cause permanent dent to my career and future prospects – because I believed it in my blood that it was the right, principled and decent thing to do so always!

Some of the students that I have looked after some of them are today Their Excellencies, some in The Royal Family and many as CEOs, Directors and Board Members of many companies in Oman – and even outside Oman. My records speak for themselves. You are most free to check around and ascertain for yourselves – if need be.

Last two weeks I wrote the following articles with you most in my mind. Time To Hear and Dealing With Situations In Life. You can find both these articles in my website http://www.majidall.com and http://www.majidwrite.com

A long time ago when I was a boy of eight years old I wanted to play with a blade. My late grandfather was dead set against me being given the blade – though I threw in tantrums and emotions to get it. In the end he relented – saying to my late Mother – give him the blade! I was soon bleeding and had to be medically treated. The point is in being obstinate and wanting to play with things that are harmful to me – but not listening to elderly advice and caution being given to me. In the end the person who suffered most is me!

There is a similar expression in Arabic for children who want to play with matches – you get your hands burnt as a result of your not listening to advice being given to you. Another one is throwing a stone at a beehive – and they will come out to sting you. It is you who brought out the bees – they were quietly doing their works and livelihood in their beehive – till you provoked them!

I will also tell you this from my personal experiences and exposures which I will share with you. To make changes you yourself must be part and parcel of the change process – that is with you inside it – not as you fighting it from the outside. I found this the hard way in life. When I became part of the team and being supportive – I got faster and more rapid progress than confronting it and fighting it from outside.

The reason is simple. You become part of The Team and you are acceptable and recognised – and people open up to listen and hear you. This took me a long time to get to understand – and I wished I had done it earlier in order to be more useful to the cause that I was after!

When you fight the cause from outside you naturally bring resistance to change – as we all know change is not easy and there is a natural resistance to change. We all know this very clearly – and even our conscious and sub conscious mind speaks to us in the same voice and tone. That small thin voice inside wanting to speak to you – and telling you that though you are very frustrated and angry – but what you are doing is not right, correct or ethical – or professional – simply and smugly put.

I am not going to bring our Omani ways, values, heritage traditions and customs in doing things – because we all know this deep within ourselves. That is the Family sit together as one to discuss things as one Family – united under One Flag, One Nation, One His Majesty. I invite you to read my article here too under my website above or here – http://knowledgeoman.com/en/?p=165 – All Under One Flag. Visit also Forty Years On under the same site!

My pleas and requests to you that we should always remember that we have enemies both from within and outside who want desperately to cause harm, disaster and havoc to us – because they cannot be like us or simply hate us to see the progress, development and our peace, security and stability.

We have a very good thing here in our country – Allah God Be Blessed. We should come together to keep it – nurture it – let it grow and prosper – protect and defend it. We should not put sand in our food – then we will not be able to eat it – or if you spit on it – or do bad things to it – then how can you eat it yourself? Ask yourself this critical and fundamental question – please!

I beg of you to cool down and let things take its natural cause. The Leadership under His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said – Allah Give him long life and health – Amin – is already listening and hearing you – and changes have already started to be formulated and to be implemented. There are some things that in your levels you will not be able to know and appreciate why maybe taking a longer time or need more efforts to implement. Only The Leadership and The Decision Makers will know – and not to our levels – some being very sensitive, critical and confidential – if not State Secrets themselves.

Make your own right decisions and follow your conscience. Most importantly do not harm others – or cause yourself to be in harm’s way. Or destroy others’ properties – because you would not want others to do the same towards you. A Muslim brother is one who wants others to have the same best things he wants for himself.

I know these things I came to know the hard way when I came to know later why some things took longer to implement – and it is not my intention to bore you with details – or to brag or and blow my own trumpet.

If you remember what both Gandhi and Nelson Mandela have said – when they wanted changes in a peaceful way they got all they wanted. India became Independent – despite years of fighting. So were the unexpected results of end of Apartheid in South Africa – the point is success came more faster and more rapid after doing it all more peacefully – whilst failed miserably when force was used before!

Let us go back to our Omani ways and to our Religion – and our Islamic ways of doing things and in solving our issues and the difficulties and complexities between us – Amin.

May Allah Protect and Preserve our beloved Nation of Oman – Amin. And our His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said – May Allah Give him long life and health – Amin

Let us hope and pray for wisdom, pragmatism, tact and diplomacy – Amin

 Take Care!

Allah SWT My Lord God Al Mighty – I am Crying Out To You! Reply

Allah SWT My Lord God Al Mighty I am Crying Out To You!

My Heart is breaking into pieces in this Holy Month of Ramadhan Fasting!

Allah SWT I am crying out to you for help and assistance to take me out of this situation I am now in last 18 months. No Civil Status!

I have even gone out to beg for money – even if I know the Upper Hand is better. But I have No Money .. I am a Retired Pensioner struggling to make ends meet and Allah is My Witness.

Kuchonga Uso! Carving Your Face!

Be Afraid of Allah SWT – especially in this Holy Month of Fasting in Ramadhan! Be afraid of The Punishment on Earth – in your grave – in front of Allah SWT God Almighty on The Day of Reckoning – and Eternal Hell Fire for DHULOOM INJUSTICES you have done on Those Poor and Without.

BE VERY MUCH AFRAID!!

This is a Swahili saying meaning ‘Carving Your Face!’ It means asking for Help from Others! I have been doing that this whole week! As I have no money being a Retired Pensioner myself with no other money or savings – as I was always a honest person and never took even a Baizas not my own!

I felt great pain just now starting my Yukon GMC MW 2356 and now 13 months since Mulkiya Vehicle Registration had expired and The ROP are refusing to renew it because of an Old Court case 16 years since my Consultancy went bankrupted by doing a National Prestigious Project where we received only 33% what was paid to an International Consultant.

We recruited 6 Omanis – 3 we were told we would be compensated their salaries. For more than 2 years till the Consultancy collapsed we did not receive even one Baizas from The Authorities – and now only even bad things happening to my own life instead!

It really makes a mockery of Self-Employment & SMEs support and in Justice in favour always of the Minority and those with money power richness and Wastah against The Poor Omani Citizen Pensioner and Retiree.

Be Merciful for Allah SWT to be Merciful to You!

“He who does not show mercy shall see no mercy (from his Lord).”
“Allah is not merciful to him who is not merciful to men.” The Holy Quran 2.278

Whosoever removes a worldly grief from a Believer, Allah will remove from him one of the griefs of the Day of Judgment. Whosoever alleviates [the lot of] a needy person, Allah will alleviate [his lot] in this world and the next. Whosoever shields a Muslim, Allah will shield him in this world and the next. Allah will aid a slave [of His] so long as the slave aids his brother.

“The best charity is that which is practiced by a wealthy person. And start giving first to your dependents.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari] Volume 2, Book 24, Number 507

Narrated Abu Huraira (May Allah be pleased with him):

The Prophet (peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) said“The one who looks after a widow or a poor person is like a Mujahid (warrior) who fights for Allah’s Cause, or like him who performs prayers all the night and fasts all the day.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari] Volume 7, Book 64, Number 265

Pickthall
Establish worship, and pay the poor-due; and whatever of good ye send before (you) for your souls, ye will find it with Allah. Lo! Allah is Seer of what ye do. (2:110)

Sahih International
Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in Allah , the Last Day, the Angels, the Book, and the Prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives Zakah; [those who] fulfill their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous. (2:177)

Pickthall, Muhsin Khan, Saheeh International
The likeness of those who spend their wealth in Allah’s way is as the likeness of a grain which groweth seven ears, in every ear a hundred grains. Allah giveth increase manifold to whom He will. Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knowing. Those who spend their wealth in the Cause of Allah, and do not follow up their gifts with reminders of their generosity or with injury, their reward is with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. A kind word with forgiveness is better than almsgiving followed by injury. Allah is Absolute, Clement. O you who have believed, do not invalidate your charities with reminders or injury as does one who spends his wealth [only] to be seen by the people and does not believe in Allah and the Last Day…. (2:261-264, part)

Pickthall
Lo! those who believe and do good works and establish worship and pay the poor-due, their reward is with their Lord and there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve. (2:277)

Another one of the favourite hadiths because it teaches us to get up and do something:

On the authority of Abu Sa’eed al-Khudree (May Allah be pleased with him) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say,

“Whosoever of you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; and if he is not able to do so, then [let him change it] with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart — and that is the weakest of faith.” [Muslim]

The Importance of Justice!

The Quran, the sacred scripture of Islam, considers justice to be a supreme virtue.

It is a basic objective of Islam to the degree that it stands next in order of priority to belief in God’s exclusive right to worship (Tawheed) and the truth of Muhammad’s (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prophethood.  God declares in the Quran:

“God commands justice and fair dealing…” (Quran 16:90)

Prophet Muhammad underscored the importance of rulers being just in one of his famous sayings.

“There are seven categories of people whom Allah will shelter under His shade on the day when there will be no shade except His. (One will be) a just leader.” (Saheeh Muslim)

The Qur’an warns believers against subjective factors or personal emotions leading them to deviate from the path of justice, which is also the path of Islam, but it weighs heavily upon those who are required to adjudicate in disputes or to give judgment on other issues.

“O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah and be just witnesses and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: That is nearer to piety, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do.” (Al-Maidah: 8)

Muslims are also called upon to rise above social evils such as nepotism and favoritism. Almighty Allah says in the Qur’an,

“O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even though it be against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, be he rich or poor, Allah is a Better Protector to both (than you). So follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest you may avoid justice, and if you distort your witness or refuse to give it, verily, Allah is Ever Well-Acquainted with what you do.” (Al-Nisa: 135)

Oppressing Others!

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) reports that_

_Rasoolullah (صلي الله عليه وسلم) said:_

“Whoever has oppressed another person concerning his reputation/honour or anything else should seek to be absolved by him before [the day when] there will be neither Dinaar nor Dirham _[there will be no money on the day of Qiyaamah to pay for any oppression committed]_

If he [the oppressor] has good deeds, they will be taken from him to balance the injustice he did, and if he does not have any good actions, the bad deeds of [the oppressed] will be loaded onto him.”

O you who have believed, fear Allah and give up what remains [due to you] of interest, if you should be believers. 2.279

And if you do not, then be informed of a war [against you] from Allah and His Messenger. But if you repent, you may have your principal – [thus] you do no wrong, nor are you wronged. Quran 2.280

And if someone is in hardship, then [let there be] postponement until [a time of] ease. But if you give [from your right as] charity, then it is better for you, if you only knew.

And fear a Day when you will be returned to Allah. Then every soul will be compensated for what it earned, and they will not be treated unjustly.

Need for People to be Happy! Reply

Need for People to be Happy!

Face – Unhappy!

Why are people not happy despite all their possessions and social status?

The Offices!

In one of the Companies I worked in Oman in Human Resources, my American CEO told me this – Many of our Staff are literally unhappy lots – there may be some pretenses here and there of them being happy in their jobs – but the reality is many are not! Your first task is to find out why the Staff are not happy and find ways and means to rectify the situation as much as you can. If you need any support and or help – The Board is here to support you!

I do not want our Staff to feel that they are coming to work only because they have a family to feed and bills to pay! I need our Staff to feel happy that they are coming to work here – and looking forward happy to come again tomorrow – not scared and worried they will need to come back again to work!

The Homes!

Some months back, a family member had visited us from Tanzania! In one of his observances, he told me in confidence that he had noticed that many of the houses he had visited and had been invited to ‘were material, artificial and not real happy people’! There was a lot of acting and pretensions – but he could see through it!

He observed that back home they were less privileged and had less material things with them – but they went on with life more happy and contented. He said back home few possessed cars and other material things – but in comparisons back home people were happier and contented lots – even though they possessed far lesser material and other things! People were genuinely and naturally far happier!

He was not the only one! There were others who had come and said the same things! I noticed that too when I myself had last visited! Our family members were genuinely happy – with husband teasing and joking with the wife – and vice versa! There were no pretenses to act or show off their care, love and understanding to one another!

Here in Oman there are many houses with one or more cars parked outside – even if mine cannot move for them refusing to renew the Vehicle Mulkiya Registration! There very few had any car parked outside – maybe a motorbike or bicycle instead!

The house was full of gadgets, equipment and material things! There were 2 to 3 Televisions in the house – in some places there only one or no television instead! People lived hand to mouth – but were happy, satisfied and contented – even if they needed or wanted more in life – in the comparisons between the two!

I had also visited ‘quite well off’ and richer families – and even if some of them could be classified as that rich and endowed – but even there people were much happier and contented in comparisons!

I asked both an Indian and a Pakistani friend if these things were also true pertaining them – and they were affirmative! Even those families who did not know where their next meal would be coming from – they were still happier lots!

I saw a film once where this European was lamenting about a Chinese family living in the street – he commented – how can these people be full of cheers and laughter – and are yet still they are living in the streets? Where do they get their happiness from? How can they be happy?

One day my son was lamenting to me – When I am at home here as a kid – you shout at me! My wife now shouts at me! My boss shouts at me! When I am on the road other drivers shout at me (road rage!) I am afraid I may be fined for a traffic offence when actual it is the other car that committed the offence! Tell me Dad – How can I be happy?

We have also heard of The Country and Town Mouse story!  The Country Mouse said – You may have luxuries and dainties that I have not,” she said as she hurried away, “but I prefer my plain food and simple life in the country with the peace, happiness and security that go with it.”

Poverty with security and happiness are better than the plenty in the midst of fear, unhappiness and uncertainty! – The Country Mouse said!

The UAE has indeed set a Ministry of Happiness and led by a young Emirati girl! I guess they have identified the problem – and doing something about it!

There are also issues in Broken Homes, Drug Abuse, Alcoholism, Family Relationships, Respect for Elders – and so on!
